Monkeypants
We have just had a baby boy, born here in Thailand. I (the father ) am British by birth, and have a British passport. My Wife (the mother) holds dual citizenship, she has a British passport and also a Thai passport, she was born in Thailand , we lived in the UK for 10 years, during that time my wife became a British citizen. Having looked at the British embassy website, it states that I have to show my British birth certificate, as part of the application for my son to hold a British passport. Unfortunately, I do not have a copy of it here in Thailand, and would have to arrange for one to be shipped over. My question is, Is this really neccessary given the above information ? My wife has here British citizenship Certificate to hand Thanks
7by7
Yes, you do need your birth certificate. From Passport documents Children born after 1 July 2006 outside the UK If the passport is for a child born after 1 July 2006 outside the UK you must provide the child’s: full foreign birth certificate and mother’s full UK birth certificate or father’s full UK birth certificate
ThaiVisaExpress
You require the long version of your birth certificate.
