Masked gunmen raid Phrae hotel

PHRAE: -- Three masked gunmen stormed into a hotel in Thailand's northern province of Phrae this morning, taking the hotel’s owner and two staff members hostage before running off with a gold chain.

According to police reports, the three heavily-armed men burst into the Song Pi Nong Hotel in Soon Men district at around 01.00hrs, seizing Mr. Preecha Srijaiwong, the hotel’s 51 year-old owner.

After placing handcuffs on him, they then hit his head with the butt of their guns, causing minor injuries, before capturing two other members of staff and holding them hostage in one of the guest rooms.

After seizing a gold chain and two diamond rings from Mr. Preecha, the men leapt into their getaway car and sped off through the night.

Police said that they were still searching for the perpetrators of the crime.
