Desperately Seeking Diaphragm!

Featured Replies

not sure if health or ladies forum better....

I have been round every hospitol in samui seeing if they provide the diaphragm or 'cap' with no joy. I recently had a breast cancer scare and am shying away from any chemical contraceptives but finding choice very limited...in fact just one - the good old condom! I really want something a bit more compatible with my long term relationship needs....the thai doc said they do not have them in Thailand due to cultural issue - i.e. thai women dont like to insert anything hence the lack of tampon choices!

Any ideas girls? I will travel to Bangkok to get fitted and buy one....if you know of a hospital or clinic please help!!! x

even will go as far as Singapore if they do (if only option)....am desperate ..so to speak lol

I would check Samitivej Womens Clinic if i were you - if anyone in Bangkok knows they would. They were great when I had a checkup there in Dec, and see a lot of farang women. Give them a call - 02 711 8181. The gynie I saw was called Dr Wirote SiriPatananont who spoke perfect English. Good luck.

Ditto with the Samitivej recommendation-- I went there for a full check up a year or so ago and while not cheap, they are certainly good.

thanks have just emailed them. Anyone have any other suggestions....what about the sponge? is that available here or do you know where i can get it? Really just looking for something i can control that isnt pouring hormones into me....

Have you looked into the coil (IUD) I have one without hormones (there are 2 kinds, one with one without) as I suffer from terrible mood swings when taking the pills or anything that contains hormones.

I had it fitted last year & apart from slightly more cramping pain during the first 2 days of menstruation have found it to be very good ( so good in fact I forget I have it)

Yes, IUD good suggestion and readily available in Thailand

Sponges and spermicides, not in any pharmacies I know of but if any would have it, the pharmacy inside Villa Supermarket on Sukhumvit Sois 33-5 would be best bet as they tend to have things used just by farang

I recall some years back a woman posting that she was able to get a diaphragm fitted in Bkk I think it was at BNH Hospital.Suggest emailing them as well. You'll need to stocvk up on the jelly from wherever you get it fitted as not to be found in the pharmacies.

Thanks everyone for your input, i tried the suggested hospitol but they just wanted to fit the iud and i am not too keen on the idea of that. Am told the mini pill is my best option r.e. does not affect breast cancer risk women...i have read that a soon to be available one size fits all diaphragm is due to be fda approved this year and i will be first in line - think it is called the silc diaphragm...i will no doubt have to order from usa but it looks like a winner to me. Thanks again guys :)
