Phuket Fc - The Professional Thai League

Recommended Posts

The Southern Sea Kirin lost their first game of the season last Saturday away at Trang who now sit just a point below FC Phuket in the table. No ficture for FC Phuket this weekend - next match is Saturday, April 24 v Krabi at Surakul Stadium. Kick off at 6pm.

But we can still get our football fix before then as the Thai Premier League champions Muang Thong United will play their upcoming champions league fixture in Phuket amid safety concerns from the visiting team from Hong Kong.

Muang Thong who lead their group with 10 points agreed to switch the tie to Phuket and the game will be played on Tuesday, April 20.

Kick off at 6pm

Should be good to see the best team in thailand playing at Surakul - hope they have sorted the pitch out.....

Thai Premier League Champions Muang Thong Utd suffered a last-gasp 1-0 defeat to South China of Hong Kong on Match day 5 of the Asian Champions League at Surakul Stadium.

Both teams finished the match with 10 men, but the home side deserved more than they got after a spirited display saw them play virtually an hour with just 10 men following a first half dismissal for a dubious elbow.

The visitors started brightly and struck the bar from a free kick from the right hand side as MT Utd struggled to get into the game.

Backed by noisy support from FC Phuket's Stormriders, the group leaders clawed their way back into the match, going close on a number of occasions.

MT Utd were then reduced to 10 men for an elbow missed by the referee, but seen by the linesman.

MT Utd held on until half time and came out after the interval looking like the team with a man advantage as they penned the visitors back in their own half and were unlucky not to take the lead, hitting the bar and the post on separate occasions.

Being a man down seemed to favour the home side because once South China's numerical advantage was withdrawn following a scandalous decision by the referee, who had had a good match up until that point, the visitors slowly gained the ascendancy.

Their endeavour was rewarded just as the clock ticked 90 minutes when a shot from the edge of the area beat the MT Utd keeper, sparking wild scenes on the South China bench and among the directors seated in the VIP area.

As injury time arrived, MT Utd carved out a couple of half chances but were unable to convert.

FC Phuket return this Saturday at Surakul Stadium where they face local rivals Krabi FC.

The Southern Sea Kirin will be hoping to bounce back from their disappointing defeat to Trang a fortnight ago.

Kick off 6pm.

G'day FC Phuket fans,

The Southern Sea Kirin return to Surakul Stadium after a 3-week absence and host local rivals Krabi.

In FC Phuket's last outing the side suffered it's first defeat of the season when the lasd went down 2-1 away from home to continue their disappointing run of form away from Surakul.

Fortunately the home ground has become a fortress this season and FC Phuket will be favourites to make it six wins from six on home soil this Saturday.

Kick off is at 6pm.

Usual meeting point of Roxy Bar at 16/16.30 or at the stadium before kick off. Hope to see plenty of familiar faces.

Come on you greens!!!

Cheers

Phuket will host its second Asian Continental match in a week tonight when Surakul Stadium plays host to Thai Port FC v Tai Po of Hong Kong.

The AFC Cup match follows last week's Asian Champions League match between Muang Thong United and South China also of Hong Kong, moved to Thailand amid concerns for the safety of the visiting club.

Kick of is 6.30pm.

In the last match to be played at Surakul Stadium, FC Phuket recorded their 6th straight home victory in the league to open up a four-point cushion at the top.

Although his men secured all three points, coach Arjan Songsamsub will have been concerned by the performance which was a long way from its fluid best.

Despite being rooted to the bottom of the league, the visiting side created a number of chances and could have snatched a surprise lead.

FC Phuket slowly started to creep back into the game and took the lead when star man Ali Diarra headed in from close range.

If the home fans expected the floodgates to open, then they were to be disappointed as the Southern Sea Kirin's disjointed performance continued after the break.

Chances were few and far between for both sides, with the visitors creating the better opportunities and they stunned the home crowd with an equaliser with a fierce shot from just inside the left hand corner of the area.

The Stormriders upped their efforts and the players responded, grabbing the winning goal after good work from Adisak set up Chakrit to power the ball past the keeper from close range.

The roar that greeted the goal was as loud as has been heard at Surakul this season and was borne out of relief and joy.

As time dwindled down, neither side created any further clear cut chances and even though the Krabi keeper went forward for a late corner, it was to no avail as the home side held on for the win.

Next match for FC Phuket: away at Hat Yai, 02/05/10. Next home game v Surat Thani, 08/05/10.

League leaders FC Phuket failed to register their first away win of the season last Saturday when they were held to a scoreless draw at Hat Yai.

The Southern Sea Kirin are two points clear at the top of the table, having played a game more than Trang in second.

FC Phuket head into the final match of the first half of the season this saturday at Surakul Stadium.

This Saturday's opponents are Surat Thani FC, currently sitting in third place, five points behind the home side.

Kick off is at 6pm, tickets priced as per usual. This is the last game for about a month so let's have a good turn out and support the lads.

Be good to get another win under the belt to go into the break on a high. Hope to see you all there.

Daniel Ogunshakin May 9 at 5:30pm

Goals either side of half time were enough to secure a seventh consecutive league victory for FC Phuket as they enter the mid-season break.

The Southern Sea Kirin have accumulated 25 points from a possible 36, mainly thanks to their impressive home form.

A large crowd gathered at Surakul Stadium for the 6pm kick off and although the match was of poor quality, FC Phuket fans left in high spirits.

Both teams struggled to find a good rhythm and the flow of the game was upset by poor refereeing decisions.

The home side was able to conjure up two moments of true quality over the course of the 90 minutes and were duly rewarded with two goals; the first a controlled half volley into the net from a whipped cross from the right and the second a lifted finish of the STFC goal keeper from a delightful throughball from Adisak.

Both teams finished the match with just 10 men. STFC were reduced to 10 men following an off-the-ball incident, possibly and elbow.

Incensed by a ridiculous offside decision by the linesman which could have resulted in a third goal for the home side, Sarach Yooyen remonstrated a little to vigorously and was dimissed by the referee.

The match then descended into farce after the STFC players refused to continue to play, citing the floodlights as a problem.

After a lengthy delay, play was restarted and FC Phuket held on for the three points.

Top of the league with 25 points from their 12 matches, 100% home record but yet to win on the road, there are improvements to be made in the second half of the season, however, things look promising.

When are the next home games? I am planning to go for quite some time now, however, every time they play at home I am either not on Phuket or already have other obligations. Really hope to see one of the next matches though...

Last time out FC Phuket recorded their second straight away win of the season away at Pattani. The Southern Sea Kirin scored three times away from home for the second consecutive match before conceding a late consolation goal for the home side.

FC Phuket are now 8 points clear at the top of the league.

FC Phuket are at home again this weekend; Sunday, July 18 at Surakul Stadium. Kick off 6pm. Bring your own refreshments, beer etc. Club shop open before and after the match. FC Phuket shirts available.

Too bad about yesterdays result I hope complacency isn't setting in. Oh well first loss at home well into the seccond half of the season isn't bad. Does anyone know if there is a FC Phuket website thats up to date, I found one but I dont think it's been updated in months.

Although FC Phuket have played one game less than Ranong, this Saturday match will be vital. If FC Phuket lose, they might start to feel Ranong breath and feel a bit nervous. Moreover, the next three matches will be played away ( including the one in Ranong ).

The lad's will be fine provided the gaffer doesn't play the same goalkeeper from the previous three matches. He is so poor it beggars belief.

In the game against Trang he came for a number of crosses and got nowhere near the ball and then the first goal conceded against Yala was entirely his fault. It was a hopeful ball into the box that inexplicably he allowed to drop over his head. The worst thing? You knew it was going to happen as soon as the ball started drifting towards him.

He then decided to come for the ball a couple more times during the game and got absolutely nowhere near it again and the second time got whacked in the face by Nenebi the centre half. My friends and I hoped he would have to be subbed but, alas, it wasn't to be.

The defenders have no confidence in him and refuse to pass the ball back to him, putting themselves under more pressure.... The 'keeper who started the season is infintely better and lets hope the gaffer has come to his senses.

When you have a couple of Thai lasses who, generally speaking, no little about the game decrying his performance and pointing out errors on a consistent basis then you know there's a problem.

The second goal was simply stunning - one of the best I've ever seen - unstoppable. Despite the scoreline, FC Phuket dominated from start to finish and on another day Ali Diarra would have scored a hat trick. It was interesting to watch him slump to his knees in anguish at missing some chances as it proved he actually cares.....

Oh well, it should eliminate any complacency in the run in and we should get back to business with a comprehensive win over bottom club Chumphon this Saturday. The game kicks of at 6pm at Surakul Stadium.

Got to give a nod to the Hulks who have been brilliant all year and even when FC Phuket were losing still kept cheering them on. What's more they cheered the Yala players after the match - wouldn't see that happening in many other leagues around the world......

Was a new experience for most fans seeing the team lose. For old timers like James and me, we saw it too many times last season.....

Forza FC Phuket!!

FC Phuket 5 Chumphon FC 1

FC Phuket bounced back from their shock 2-0 home defeat to Yala FC last Sunday to thrash Chumphon FC at Surakul Stadium tonight.

The Southern Sea Kirin scored five goals at home for the second time this season as goals from Sarach Yooyen, Poramut Krongborlsut, Nene Bi Tra Sylvestre and Chakrit Rawanprakon moved the home side one win closer to the end of season playoffs.

FC Phuket have four games left, three of which are away from home. Two wins should be enough to seal their place in the playoffs.

FC Phuket end league campaign with win

Goals either side of halftime from Thawin Butrsombat and Nithirot Sukuma were enough to ease FC Phuket to a 2-1 home win over Phang Nga FC at Surakul Stadium last night.

Thawin, signed during the mid-season break, put the Southern Sea Kirin 1-0 up after just seven minutes when he kept his composure in the box to finish off a sweeping five-man move that began deep in the FC Phuket half.

Nithirot slotted home a second after 56 minutes when Diarra Ali’s shot rebounded off the goalkeeper after the African star had sprung the Phang Nga offside trap to run onto a clever through ball from defender Ronnachai Jinaket.

With 15 minutes remaining, the visiting side pulled a goal back but FC Phuket held on for the win to complete a memorable league campaign which has seen them collect 55 points.

The presence of the Regional League Division Two South trophy created a party atmosphere among the supporters at Surakul and the players strode to huge cheers from The Hulks as they prepared for their final league match of the season.

Coach Arjan Songngamsap made a number of changes to the side that beat Phattalung at the weekend, with Nene Bi Tra Slyvestre dropping to the bench and Diarra Ali and Camara Ahmed returning to the starting line up.

The changes had a positive effect as FC Phuket grabbed an early goal through Thawin and then Nithirot put the home side 2-0 up after halftime with teenage star Sarach Yooyen pulling the strings in midfield.

With a two-goal cushion, FC Phuket took their foot off the gas and sloppy play allowed Phang Nga back into the match after 75 minutes when the visitor’s number 10, on as a second half substitute, glanced in a dangerous cross from the Phang Nga number 31.

Despite a couple of anxious moments, the home side closed out the match and after the final whistle collected the league trophy in front of their delighted supporters.

Great night at Surakul Stadium on Wednesday - what a difference a year makes! The playoff fixtures should be announced towards the end of the month and I will let you know as soon as they in. Big effort from all Phuketians required, so please head down to Surakul - great entertainment for so little money.

Division 1 here we come!!

Hi Peterocket,

Yes the next game is this Saturday v Chai Nat at Surakul Stadium, kick off is at 6pm. You can take beers in with you but you must take cans, glass bottles aren't allowed.

No different from watching Liverpool this season (sadly). See you there!

After two draws in their opening matches, FC Phuket go in search of their first win of the play offs when they take on Chai Nat FC this Saturday, October 30 at Surakul Stadium.

Chai Nat have racked up 2 wins from2 in their opening fixtures and will present stiff opposition for the Southern Sea Kirin but with having only dropped points once at home all season and getting two points away from home, FC Phuket will be confident of picking up the three points.

The match kicks off at 6pm and fans are allowed to take their own refreshments to the game provided there are no glass bottles.

A good turn out is required to give the lads a lift so please come out and support your local team as they push for promotion to Division 1.

See you on Saturday.
