Hi

Please can you confirm how often you have to report in to an Immigration Office once you receive your work permit? Is it every 90 days or every 12 months?

Also, do you have to report in to the Immigration Office in the province where the Work Permit was issued or can you report in to any Immigration Office in Thailand.

Is there is some sort of general document that covers what you need to do once you have a work permit?

Thanks

A work permit does not require any reporting - when you need a new work permit you go there. When you have an extension of stay 90 day reporting is required and is done at the office you obtained the extension of stay from using a TM.47.

Thanks

So if I understand correctly I first apply for a work permit and then apply for a 12 month Visa extension whilst the work permit is being processed?

Once the work permit is approved do I carry on using the first Visa extension - or do I have to apply for another type of Visa?

Is there a document covering what needs to be done once the wrok pwrmit is applied for?

You first apply for the WP, than for the 1 year extension from immigration. For that you need to have a non-immigrant visa (O or B ).

For both the work permit and extension of stay you will need documents from your employer. Do they have any experience in this?

you apply for the WP first and receive a piece of Paper from them confirming application has been accepted, if you do not have a current O or B visa, then you have to leave Thailand to get one, you need the documents from the company and the receipt (original plus copy) from the WP office, when you return go to the WP Office and show them your new Visa (this is a Visa as obtained from outside Thailand), they complete the work on the WP and ask you to come back on another day to collect it, as it is tied into the date of expiry of your Visa. Before this Visa expires you will need all the paperwork again, and this time you go to the local Immigration office, plus copies of WP, get a new extension, then go to the WP office and get a new extension of WP also valid until the extension (from Immigration) expires.

This is the scenario from 2 years ago, maybe it has changed maybe not

You must have a work permit and meet the requirements for extension of stay to obtain. If your employer does not meet the requirements no extension of stay will be provided. Extension of stay requires both you and company to provide paperwork.
