Falling apart... lack of direction, leadership, no genuine cause..

The decision to cut ties with army specialist Khattiya Sawasdipol and Surachai Danwattananusorn

only highlights the smoldering disunity in the pro-Thaksin Shinawatra camp.

Ho, how to unite for a cause if there is no genuine cause, but loads of allegations

based on lies, deceit and falsehood, how to convince the masses and keep them going?

It had to happen this way.... some will end up as bad losers....

There is a cause: social justice for the working class, but they don't know how proceed. If they could find a champion among their own ranks, make a clear plan for change, and keep the establishment from hijacking their cause. They could win an election.

They desperately need to leave Thaksin and his cronies to the dustbin of history though.

The working class can do so much more for themselves than anything they perceived that Thaksin did for them in the past. They are the majority.

BBC last night reported red shirt's thin on the ground

If even BBC is finally reporting that, you know it's getting bad :)

Good stuff Webfact & co!

And probably about time to crowbar myself away from this medieval nonsense. Let's hope nothing untoward happens to Abhisit and he continues moving Thailand forward until the next fair elections :)

Agreed! It may not necessarily take someone from the working class, to lead the working class, but Thaksin was definitely the wrong one, with the wrong motives. Che Guevara came from an affluent family and was studying to be a doctor. Marcos (Mexico, Chiapas, not the Filipine one), came from a rich background as well, as have several others, in history, who made themselves the champions of the poor. It will be interesting, to watch politics evolve in Thailand. Now, the box is open. Both the PAD and the Reds have shown, that there is power with the people.

Of course, in a democratic society, starting a social democratic party, would be the way to go, I think. Thailand is ripe for a "working man's party". (I believe, that any true socialist, is wise, nowadays, to hide behind the "social democratic" banner, because to start a socialist party and naming it that, would not attract enough support, I think :)

Anyways, step one of the process, is to totally get Thaksin out of the picture.

and yes, I almost forgot, thanks for the news flashes, Webfact, George and everyone

Our local noodle seller told us last night that most of the people who attended the protest from his village have returned suffering from food poisoning and dehydration. They've said they won't be attending anymore rallies.

I agree as well, but it is difficult to find a politician in Thailand that isn't in it completely for business/monetary gain. Even those who came from poorer backgrounds get swept into the folds of greed long before they hold any position of real power. Those with the know-how and empathy for the poor and working class, keep away from the political limelight, and try to influence issues from behind the scenes. I know many university professors who do just this. It's a pity that they don't feel safe enough to enter the ring, but in Thailand, the ring is so dangerous, that it may involve your whole family, not just yourself.

Thailand is stuck in a circle of who is already in the ring, and who can get into the ring. It's either nepotism or buying your way in, and neither makes for great politicians, (although I have to say that I think Abhisit is doing a good job despite this). A major change needs to happen, but it needs to wipe out all the current political leaders, (red, yellow, green, blue, or whatever), and do it peacefully. I think this is why a focus on education has never been more than just another part of the paper tiger. Maybe altruism needs to be introduced into the curriculum as part of early learner's education on ethics and Buddhism?

Lazy are they? Just imagine if these drinking gambling peasants decided not to bother going into the fields and and cutting rice for 150 baht a day, in order to fill once again the coffers of the Chinese Mafia. The people in Bangkok (including the farangs on this forum, snug in their air conditioned condos) would soon complain.

Disorganised they may be a present but wait and see, this is just the beginning, these drunken, gambling peasants have had enough!

If you do not like stereotyping perhaps you should also refrain from doing so?

Yesterday my daughter-in-law, with terminal lung cancer, advised her Chinese merchant boss she had to quite as was having another operation next week. That merchant gave her 200k in cash to pay for the operation and a promise to have her son deliver her paycheck every month until she was able to return to work.

Stereotyping sucks - no matter who does it.
