binnsy Posted March 21, 2010 Posted March 21, 2010 Who owns these? The rason that i am asking is that visited a hospital here and wanted to get some prescription drugs and they asked me to bring them along next time.
mrtoad Posted March 21, 2010 Posted March 21, 2010 Effectively they asre the property of the hospital. However you have access to these records if you so wish under the Data Protection act 1998 There is a guide here in respect of the laws and guideliens surrounding access http://www.dh.gov.uk/en/Managingyourorgani...ians/DH_4084411 If they are hospital notes, I suggest that you contact you your local NHS Trust and ask to speak to the PALS Nurse (Patient Advisory and Liasion) they will help you make the necessary arrangements. There can be restrictions as to what they will release as you will see on the link I have provided. Your local GP Surgery should also have a local policy, which again is covered by the Data Protection Act 1998. You will, If my memory serves me right be provided with scanned copies. A word of warning thouygh, you probably will not be able to get them straight away - although your GP may be willing to provide you with a signed medical letter.
