fourbaht
Hi Just a question about Radio Bangkok, I recall a post some time ago where some one asked about copyright for songs played but do not recall seeing an answer? Who pays the royalties on the songs played? I note MP's post in the Pattaya forum and he is correct in his observations about royalties and I just wondered how this applied to Internet radio stations such as this one. cdnvic
Royalties for internet broadcasts are just in the process of being configured. Depending on where the broadcast server resides, the royalties will be paid to the relevant agency in that country. (ie: SOCAN in Canada, ASCAP in the USA). Typical rates are (Canada) 1.2 to 1.9 percent of total operating costs for the station. The royalty collecting agency then is responsible for distributing to the artists. cv
fourbaht
Actually rulings have been in place since 2002 for US based radio streamers, which probably explains why TV stopped using the US based company it started with and set up its own HK based radio and uses servers there?
