Robby nz Posted March 25, 2010 Posted March 25, 2010 Just picked up a tourist visa to come back to TL When I applied I was refused because I had no ticket to leave TL, explained that I planned to leave by road to Laos and Vietnam but no go. Was forced to buy an air ticket to KL (cheapest I could get) before they would accept an application.
thaiphoon Posted March 25, 2010 Posted March 25, 2010 The requirements for visa issue are down to the embassy, but it does say air ticket/confirmed itinerary is required on embassy website so should not have been a big surprise: Tourist Visas are issued to applicants who wish to enter the Kingdom for tourism purpose. Required Documents Completed Visa Application Form. (Note: 3 copies for Nationals listed under "No. 12 Specified Passport Holders") Passport or travel document valid for at least 6 months from expected date of travel. One recent passport sized photo. (Note: 3 photos for Nationals listed under "No. 12 Specified Passport Holders") Photocopy of bank statement, travellers cheque, or other form of funds (credit cards not accepted) providing evidence of sufficient funds during stay in Thailand (at least NZ$ 2,000). Valid air ticket or confirmed itinerary.
Musongman Posted March 26, 2010 Posted March 26, 2010 Wasn't it said on another forum that if you enter Thailand on any visa, a return or outward ticket is not required? This is very confusing. Damned if I know why one Thai Emvbassy/Consulate wants different requirements. NZ usually has good relations with most countries and gets good treatment for its citizens.
Donnyboy Posted March 26, 2010 Posted March 26, 2010 (edited) on my visa appls (non imm b ) i have my air ticket return BUT i usually start my travel from Thailand, so no outward ticket Edited March 26, 2010 by Donnyboy

That rule is immigration for entry into the country - it has nothing to do with the Embassy (MFA) requirements to issue a visa. Two different organizations. If you have a visa a ticket is not required for travel or entry.
