Thai Postal Service

Featured Replies

am thinking about sending a small parcel home back to the uk whilst in bangkok, whats the best postal service to use to guarantee its safe delivery to the uk.

standard thai post office? how comonare these because of all my times in LOS i cant recall seeing any...how long would my parcel take to arrive,or will that all depend on the service i choose ie tracking, signed for mail etc? how much is the postal charges?my parcel will be not much bigger than A5 size and will not way more than 500grams... or would i be better using a courier service? UPS,TNT,DHL?

any help, advice or links would be most appreciated?

ps i have already tried googling thai postal service but for some reason the page will not load for me

Thanks :)

I received a letter via registered mail (EMS?) at the beginning of this month, it were sent from Sisaket on a Tuesday and I had it on Friday the cost were 72 baht.

This is my only experience with Thai post but I wouldn't send something that wasn't via registered mail.

In my experience it has been hit and miss, both from and to the UK. Although we never send any thing of value in the post. I often send things to my wife like documents. Over all i would say that 80% of the package get though. In most case i used special delivery form the UK, and that seems to do the trick. Although on occasions I have had mail returned to may saying the address is not found.

For more important things i would try a courier company like Fed ex, maybe costs more but more chance of it reaching its destination with out been tamped with.

Good luck

Regards

Never had any problem, sending post every month to europe, only problem sometimes post been delivered within 5 days and sometimes it takes 25 days.

Still, if important documents i use Fed ex :)

EMS.

I use the Thai post to mail my health insurance claim forms back to the US using air mail. Average about 1 a week and never had one lost in the mail, most arrive in 7 to 10 days for processing since I can check the progress on the net. I've been doing this for over 4 years now.

In 30 years here, have NEVER had a problem with Thai postal service -- wither domestic or international, regular or EMS, sending or receiving.

I send my income tax returns to the US by Thai EMS, and which allows you to track shipping progress by the Internet.

To top it off -- service is polite, efficient, and very user-friendly.

This was not the case when I once used Fed Ex (Bangkok) to send a document to the US at significantly higher cost that Thailand's EMS. Not friendly, not efficent, and not convenient.

Never again for Fed Ex.
