I used Cat2Call in the past with Windows 32 bit OSs.

Recently I bought Windows 7 64 bit and you know what ? Cat2Call doesn´t work anymore !!!

Then I went to CAT Telecom and complained about it and after 1 hour of calling to a technician in BKK the staff told me that C

at2Call doesn´t work on Windows OSs with 64 bit.

I tried every combination like " Run as administrator" and/or Compability Mode but didn´t work out.

Of course no mention of it on their website and no mention of it when I bought Cat2Call.

This is totally unacceptable because for years now Windows 64 bit OSs are out.

And asking for the refund of my money: Cannot, sir !!!

CAT Telecom, welcome to the 21st century !!!

Hi.

Excuse my lack of knowledge but what exactly is "Cat2Call"..?

There might be some alternative. As in my own case - i am using Linux and regardless where you go asking for settings (here: ToT 3G) you get the answer "Sorry, Linux is not supported". However after some fiddling it works regardless, even if i need to use something entirely different - i.e. in my case, the pre-set for "AIS" gets me online with ToT 3G just fine.

This "your OS is not supported" really means "we can't be bothered to figure it out for you". Only if you need a hardware driver you are really lost - a general problem with 64-Bit OS's.

Best regards.....

Hi.

Ok so it's a VoIP system. Now get a technician from CAT (NOT a call center girl! A real technician who actually knows what he is talking about!) and let him tell you what system they use - likely SIP. Let him give you the SIP server and related details, then use an alternative SIP client that is known to work on 64-Bit Windows.

If it is not SIP, find out what it is and get a software that supports that system and runs on 64-bit Windows.

And do NOT let them blow you off with "sorry, our system only support our own software", that is ALWAYS <deleted>. Com8 tried to tell me that, too, when i asked them which client to use for their system on Linux. I then figured out by myself that pretty much any client that comes with or is available for Linux can be used with their SIP-based service.

Best regards.....

I think you'll find it will work, but you'll need a computer wizard/ genius to set it up...

Good luck on that!

I went though the same sort of thing, first on 32 bit W7 & changed to 64 bit version , with MC727.. from CATCDMA

But manufactured by Novatel, (Canadian Company... BTW) who are the people who should be on top of this sort of thing. Because in my opinion CAT Telecom sells these things in good faith, I am sure.... they are just resellers, not the manufacturer of the device.

The problem as I see it is the manufactures of these modems etc, need to keep the drivers updated so that none computer wizards can just download the drivers, without a hassle ...

Have you tried going to the Manufacturers Web site? They should have the drivers for the 64 bit version

I was very fortunate to have a person stay with me who knew all the work arounds ... and not had a problem since he did it.

I can confirm what Thanh said. Cat2Call / Cat2Call plus are standard SIP. You don't need to use their software. We use Cisco Phones. I successfully used Linux / OSX / Windows softphones with it.

For Windows 64 bit you can download a number of generic SIP softphone apps for free. The Cat2Call setup is quite simple. You can google around and you will find setup instructions.
