Overland To Cambodia

Featured Replies

Does anybody know if it's possible to travel from Bangkok to Phnom Penh via Poipet?

The last time I was in Phnom Penh, I was able to take a bus at Capitol guesthouse to Bangkok via Poipet and it wasn't too bad except for the long wait in Poipet for the bus to take us to Bangkok.

This time, I want to go to Poipet on my own and see if I can take a bus to Phnom Penh form there - preferablly, the same Capitol guesthouse bus.

Is that all possible to do in one day or would I have to spend the night in Aran?

You can do it in 1 day but its a very long day.

If you want to go on your own, why get the capitol bus from Poipet? Its a contradiction in terms. All that will happen is the buses will wait until the KSR buses get there - you will be directed to the same buses by the touts.

The bkk to pp is not the same journey you have the other way round. They have no guesthouses they want you to stay at in thailand, so it is much more relaxed. From bkk it is pressure all the way to get their visa, stop at their guesthouse, stop at their restaurants etc etc etc

Personally I would fly but if you want to go overland, i would stay in siem reap for one night ( having got a quicker taxi from the border) and get the boat to pp the next morning.

Have a look at www.talesofasiacom for the best and most up to date info on overland bkk to pp.
