BTW -- yesterday I saw 3 busses leave from Wororot Hotel (Rak Chiang mai 51 base) full with reds -- none dressed in red!

4 hours ago I saw 3 more busses leave there this time everyone on board was in red.

Wow, good for you. Glad you've had some buses to watch today.

Anyways, going by the rate you're describing, there shouldn't be any left by tomorrow afternoon. Of course, you said 3 weeks ago that this would be over in a few days when all the reds are gone home. Looks like they stuck for nearly 3 weeks beyond your prediction ..but I guess it's good news for you that they're leaving now.

Let me know when you've got some more BS to post :)

Rainman, JD is in Chiang Mai. He was indicating that Red shirts were heading to BKK not in red shirts, possibly for nefarious purposes. you are really not the brightest brass button on the monkey suit, are you.

Nefarious means "not good"

Well, more red shirts heading to Bangkok ...that's bad for jdinasia then, isn't it? Sorry then :D

Did I say that? Of course they actually DID go home .. the estimates of 16,000 watching from the rally site last monday during the discussions between the Red leadership and the Government must have escaped you :D

I know you are hurt that you can no longer make your public claims about the courts though, so I forgive your forgetfulness :D

You must have missed the 60,000 to 80,000 being reported by the government 2 days ago. Surely the government wouldn't inflate the numbers. It's in the BP and TN if you want to look it up.

The tide is turning. The police aren't following orders by Abhisit to arrest protesters. The courts are declining as well.

Keep on fighting, Abhisit. For your own good, not for the good of the Thai people.

LOL .. this sounds like the old rainman! If it isn't going your way make it up! No order to the police for them to clear out the ratprasong intersection has been issued that I have seen in any of the press. Just some button pushing getting the reds to over-extend their lines and clear out some of the folks that will listen to a lawful order and obey it.

The courts aren't declining either, instead they have shown that the courts do not just rubber-stamp things like SOME people have claimed (illegally) on here for ages, while still stating that Abhisit is within his constitutional powers/law by removing the protesters.

When did the courts offer up this decision? Could it have happened at a better time for Abhisit? Nope! His obligations as Host of the Mekong conference ends and the courts give him a free hand immediately afterwards! So he was doing his duty as a PM to verify his legal power WHILE doing his duty as PM to host this function :)

Now the question is ... do they let the red mob march out into choke points and disarm them, or do they cut off all but one avenue of egress from the illegal rally site and move forces in to herd the reds to where they want them to be?

Anything coming form here is the bad side of the reds. They have already murdered one person at least, forced the cancellation of an HIV awareness parade, beaten up corn farmers and declared themsleves arbtors of what is allowed in thje lanna kingdom. The main peoplkwe involved in it are quite delusional

Anyweay hopefully they wont bring any of those dubious qualities to Bangkok. Even in my wifes lower northern village they had to chase one of these lunatics out for telling them what they should be as northerners and many support Thaksin in my wife's village. They rewally are the extreme along with Khwanchai's Udon nutters and Arisamons Dorian Gray complex

Apparently they forgot their red shirts and realized the fact just as they were passing Nakhon Sawan. Had to go all the way back and pick them up. Bus drivers Somchai, Chaisom and Saichom were not too impressed until group leader Chamsoi cheered them up with offers of unlimited whisky and beer on the trip down. Last seen driving zig-zag across the rice fields of Tak, Mahasarakham and Ratchaburi ... some way off track. Expected in Bangkok some time next weekend.

Predicton. Tomorrow the reds will prance around loads of places they arent allowed to go and pull a stunt or two and threaten to kill someone again and the government wont do anything

I think there has been a misunderstanding among the public at large. The reds are simply travelling around the city practicing for Songkran.

Come on Abhisit ... declare an extra 3 days from 7-9 April as a public holiday. You know it makes sense. :)

That would be a good idea.Start sonkran early and get the real water canons out tomorrow. Not sure if the reds would enjoy the same way.

They would if they wanted their own supporters to buy a reason for non clearance. Lies all round in this I m afraid

Sadly I think that you are correct in your prediction, but I hope that you are not and that this lunacy is brought to and end, without bloodshed.

Cheers, Rick

I don't see many alternatives --- take action tonight or tmw (when the reds move) OR pack it in as PM. I don't think the Dems are ready to pack it in. I do think the police and military will follow orders but I also think that everyone will make Abhisit appear on TV and give the order himself.

Mmmthe no disolution facebook group has higher numbers than at any red rally to date.

Guess Abhisit better invite them to the next peace talk :) Not sure Jatuporn would lkike that idea as it took his guys years to get a 100,000 while this lot are appraoching 200,000 in a few weeks.

Good for a laugh

Never know hammered - with the legal nonsense out the way it means they should be able to come down on them should they try any other silly stunts like the one at the EC today.

Maybe.... Not sure. Who knows now.

/edit - the Facebook no-dissolution group has a video on there of an event I believe could start becoming more commonplace.

I didn't miss it at all (other than your numbers are inflated!) Thaksin can't afford to pay them during the weekdays .. for now it is weekends in BKK and weekdays back in Isaan for most of the crowd :D

Would a bookie take odds on that?

Ladbrokes currently offering the following odds for tomorrow:

4-7 Reds to be dancing around Bangkok willy-nilly

11-8 Abhisit to hide his head in the sand

3-1 Hun Sen and Suthep to get married at Bang Rak registry office

6-1 Central World to have a 'Red Sale'

12-1 Army coup d'état

1000-1 Police to sort out the traffic

125,000-1 Government to kick ass

Abhisit didn't need to go to court in the first place so why did he??

Maybe he was there to offer some money in a lunchbox to help out with the decision on the Democrats' case on 20 April.

Probably a different court, but they're all buddies after all. :)

The decision on April 20th isn't a court case ... it is the EC. If the EC rules against the Dems THEN it goes to court. If the PPP decision is any indication the court will take 4-6 months to issue a decion.

Oh for Abhisit to have a future he has to smash them. Chances of it happening or him wanting to do it are less though. A lot less and then factor in the military cant be arsed

60,000 to 80,000 protesters? Where do they get these figures from?

There are only 19 people there. I know this for a fact because I think I overhead a man down the pub say that he got an email from his sister's mate in Skegness who heard it on Radio Manchester. So it must be true. It's a FACT because I typed it. So there. :)

I agree -- hence Pack it in as PM as an option ---- Abhisit may not want to get his hands bloody. If he steps aside I do not think Suthep would hesitate to order the police and or the military in though ... So Abhisit is really painted into a corner. Nobody would forgive him for letting Suthep play hardball!

As this is probably coming to a head soon, why don't they declare martial law (or whatever they call that here) in Bangkok right now? Wouldn't that be a warning to civilians to stay off the streets while the lawless red mercenary army is dispersed (reducing the collateral damage to civilians). I think this is a kind of civil war now, thus the terminology. I agree, unless the reds run away like headless chickens (not likely) Abhisit must act soon or his career is finished. It may also be finished if he does act depending on the success, but not acting would be guaranteed.

I was of the opinion Suthep was the real lame duck here...? He was the one declaring "International levels of security" for the Pattaya ASIAN conference last year? Probably made it up in my head but was also under the impression it was his idea to go to the courts first? Could be completely wrong on that one though.

CAPO order no. 7

You must leave Rajaprasong intersection or we will get angry and you will be sorry.

CAPO order no. 8

Look, you're really beginning to piss us off. Leave now or we will do something. We're not sure what, but you will be sorry.

CAPO order no. 9

Please go home. It's hot. We're tired. You're making us look stupid. Please go home.

CAPO order no. 10

OK. We give up. Do whatever you like. Seems like you will anyway. See you again after Songkran. We're off to a fancy hotel in Phuket. Na na na na!

Suthep is in charge of the committé, so of course it was him and not PM to make the annoncment about goin to the court. I aslo think that the goverment has a plan and they are not sitting around and come up with crazy ideas like the reds.

The live updates don't look too encouraging for any action to be taken.

THE NATION: Summary of peacekeeping centre statement: Red leaders will be arrested, if authorities deem arrest won't trigger violence.

THE NATION: Don't frown. Army spokesman Sansern did say something along that line. Interpretation: Slim chances for arrest of red leaders.

THE NATION: Satit, meanwhile, said without much conviction that govt'll attempt to enforce restrictions orders on the 11 rds. interprete this as u wish.

Cheers, Rick

Thanks for the info. I suspect the govt have been spending today mapping something out at the 11th regiment also. It might follow a similar pattern to Songrkan last year whereby the reds whereby the reds were pretty much running around the city doing what the h3ll they felt like and the situation was feeling equally hopeless - the govt managed to pull it back (giving Abhisit a big popularity boost in the process).

Problem this time around is no doubt the reds will be more prepared.

This is really embarrassing ... why don't they just dissolve this mob or at least arrest their heads?

Why is Thaksin still not arrested? Why is the military, the police, the PM, all other parties in control - just watching??!

In which other - especially Asian - country would it be possible to cause such a chaos, such a damage

to normal, working citizens and NOT get jailed for it?

Protest is one thing (and a good one if there is unjust), but this particular 'protest' is getting out of control

and doing not much else than causing damage to not only the country, but especially the very people who

think they are demonstrating for soemthing 'better' ... and that's the cynical part of it.

Something for a change. A cartoon from Sondhi Limthongkul's (the PAD founder) ASTV newspaper:

Sad, isn't it? I wonder if he also compared himself to a buffalo when he occupied government house for months and the airports for nearly 2 weeks.

I wish all the ignorant contributors here who claim that all the reds are just paid to be demontrate would stop making things up.

I know that in my village they are having to harvest their crops early to finance trips to Bangkok to lend their support.

You can call them ignorant or stupid but they do have genuine feelings that they are getting a rough deal from the powers that be.

Just the fact they have maintained the demos for 3 weeks show there is genuine commitment.

Please stop criticising them for their lack of sophistication. Sure many have limited education but that is the result of years of Bangkok elite governance and not their fault.

Just remember that at their height the yellows could get 20,000 on the street for just a few days these reds have maintained far higher numbers for 3 weeks and not closed down any airports! They may be uneducated but they are not stupid and I find it disgusting that so many so called educated farangs in this forum think they know better an dismiss their complaints out of hand.

The problem doesn't go away by "dissolving the mob" or arresting the leaders. In case you haven't noticed, this is going on for over a year now. Simply cleaning up when your bathroom is full of water doesn't solve the problem. The water will come back unless you find the source of the running water.
