sriracha john
Court orders Thai ex-minister to support his illegitimate child BANGKOK, Thailand (AP) - Thailand's juvenile court on Monday ordered an 80-year-old retired lawmaker to pay 40,000 baht (US$990; euro789) per month to support a 2-year-old boy he fathered with a young waitress, the state news agency said. The Central Juvenile and Family Court also ordered Thavich Klinpratoom to officially recognize the boy - named Tawee - as his child and provide financial support until his son reaches the age of 20, the age of legal maturity, the Thai News Agency reported. The court stated that 20-year-old Phetcharaporn Wilairat, Tawee's mother, did not have the means to look after him as she earned only 170 baht a day (US$4.20; euro3.35) . The report said Thavich, a former Cabinet minister and father of the current Labor Minister Sura-at Klinprathum, met Phetcharaporn in 1999 when she was a waitress at a restaurant near the Parliament. He had a child with her four years later but has denied any responsibility. He was not present at the court on Monday due to poor health, the agency said.-AP
Indo-Siam
Let's see - met in 1999, had child in 2003, mother now 20 years old, child now two years old. It sure sounds like mother was 14 years old when they met, and 17 years old when she conceived. So - the kid's half brother is the current Labor Minister. Not bad! Cheers! Steve Indo-Siam <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Given the fact that the mother had to take the old geezer to court because of his denials, I'm sure #1 son will be most willing to take over the support for his brother when their Dad croaks in 2 months. At 80, he's already on borrowed time. Isn't it great that, as a well-connected politician, he's ordered to make monthly payments in lieu of a lump-sum or establishing a trust fund? Far easier to toss out B80,000 instead of a reasonable amount that will be necessary to raise a child for 20 years.

A near 80 year old man with a 14 year old girl!! This country never ceases to amaze me. (Amazing Thailand all right!!) I shouldn't be surprised though, if he is a high up politician!!!
