I understand the excitation of some of you with the conflict on-going. However, things are taking a bad orientation for all sides and may become uncontrollable.

This entire story one way or the other will finish in negotiation and compromises. The military gesticulations have no more object than positioning each other in favourable position for the discussions.

I think as an experienced man, we have to call everybody to the restraint and to cool down: losses of lives must be avoided. Lives are invaluable

Yes, I would like to see the international media now take note that the red shirt movement is led by terrorists. For a while, the naive fools were buying the propaganda that this was a non-violent, pro-democracy, movement. It is time for the world leaders to take sides now, for the reasoned civilized government (which WAS elected legally and has scheduled future elections, just not on the forced timetable of the terrorists), and against red shirt terrorists fueled by radical Maoists.

And let the media also remind the world that ALL it would take for this to stop

is for there to be an election to get rid of this army installed government......not such a hard thing to do

if people really want peace :)

And let the media also remind the world that ALL it would have taken for this to never have happened would for the redshirts to have negotiated in good faith at the beginning instead of giving ultimatums, throwing blood, making public death threats and illegally closing down the central business district.

There would have been no red shirt had the Abhisit governement been elected by the people rather then by prompted by dirty tricks in parliament or by a military coup before , our friend is right .

i really wonder how some of you guys can go on indulge your delusions - while people are actually suffering:

SUFFERING! not the abstract theory... but, right on the streets. it's HUMAN BLOOD, same same as you or mine, & who is causing it?

& you still keep going on... it's peaceful, it's for democracy, etc.

wow, i hope _you_ guys will _never ever_ have any say in thailand. thank you.

thanks too... for the mantra of "double standards" etc. since weeks reds are in town & we've never heard _any_ policy platform.

*

there are ppl here i respect for their rational discourse. even though we may differ in opinion.

so, guys... violence & bloodshed is ok, right?

Good post. Of course we don't want violence and bloodshed. Abhisit's ego and lack of patience has shown through. When you sleep with the Army, you tend to get impregnated with the Army's way of thinking, and Abhisit's been attracted to the boys in uniform for quite some time. The people suffer.

guy, i call you a troll na. i see when you joined. i see your posts. a bit above average mind spind. leave me alone, ok?

So the army are not people. They are being attacked at regular intervals by the Reds, so they have to defend. My guess is that you like sleeping with the Navy :)

The problem Abhisit has right now is there is nobody to compromise with. All the Red leaders are on the street and Arisman just called for war. It is chaos.

The red's strategy. inciting chaos through provocation, has always been to force the authorities to take the action which is now happening. Now they have their cake they have to eat it.

They have ONLY been interested provoking violence from the government. They thought they could get it from the passive agressive speech and surges. That failed. They progressed to open violence.

I am hoping that a special session of parliament gets called FAST and they impeach Jatuporn so he can be arrested.

Thats not a problem. War against the state means the reds are commiting treason. May God have mercy on them.

Either a curfew will be ordered with live ammunition used to back it up or Abhisit is throwing in the towel. Korbsak is supposedly trying to negotiate something, but with who?

Today I just witnessed the worse national disgrace and misuse of the military since I watched the East Germans Army trampled their neighbors with similar shields as we just watched on TV.

Soldiers are supposed to exist to protect the Country and its citizens. Today we watched as politicians used these soldiers to trample their friends and families and children and monks and all to try to hold the poor and dis-enfranchized Thais hostage to their quest for continued power over them.

I won't bother to respond to anyone who would attempt to defend this disgrace.

The whole government is responsible for this disaster now. There can be no excuse for this disgrace brought on the country and these soldiers. If they had any integrity they would submit the resignations NOW.

If the redshirt leaders had any integrity this whole thing would never have started. Filling peoples minds with hate speech night after night. Death threats. Violence. This has been their message, even though the were able to keep the violence under control for the first weeks. The redshirt leaders should be jailed. No government anywhere in the world would have been as patient or tolerant as the Abhisit government has been. When the redshirts finally pushed too hard the Thai people demanded the government respond.

Very sad news! Red thais try to kill other thiais

Where are the Thaksin apologists now boasting about the reds essential peacefulness?

The leopard has not changed its spots.

They were always gong to kick off their violence.

Right on song.

Thaksin is playing for keeps.

He wants power.

Now.

Not democracy.

"Right on song."

Yoshiwara, are you Welsh ?, out of polite curiosity.

Its a very Welsh phrase.

Along with the provincial hall thing that is also happening right now it seems like they might be going all out for civil war.

I agree. Thaksin now has created his own end. By taking this last stand which he will lose, he has alienated any support outside Thailand. He is a hot potato who's world has yet again become smaller. No one will want this guy in their country. Welcome to the Idi Amin class Mr T.

Cheers, Rick

THe yellow facists and their paid lapdogs are lashing again at the courageous reds who wanted only to discuss with the military .

The reds did not initiate any attacks .

If they wanted violence why did they surrender the M16's to the army ?.

Enough with the anti-red bullshitt !!!!!!

:):D:D

I have a lot of tolerance for people whose opinions I'm opposed to. I have much less tolerance for people who just get off on the noise and mayhem. Ignored, finally.

Special thanks to mod sbk for introducing this TV feature to me.

I said this earlier today before all the crap happened. He doesn't want to listen to anything and as I'm reading through today's posts I can see he's getting more and more desperate and more and more irrational.

Not worth your time.

I hope the mislead reds are ok and the leders take the brunt of the shit.

I'm relieved and impressed that the PM has said in public how inept Thai law enforcement is. I sympathise with him as I did when the previous PM Samak failed to resolve the airport fiasco. I continue to wonder how quickly a small group of trained law enforcement officers from any developed nation could mop things up in BK. I think 500 officers and around 2 days to disperse the red shirts and disuade any further protests indefinitely.

It's clear that people see what they want to see. Unfortunately, most on TV are relegated to getting news from government and military media sources. Some folks automatically assume it is propaganda, some think it is all true. Explore how your bias affects how you see things and try to free your mind from this constraint.

My father in law is a bit of a red, although no fan of Thaksin. He's upset at the Army's behavior and Abhisit's appointment by the military. My mother in law is unbiased toward yellow or red, but she sees that some of the Reds are causing needless trouble and fighting a force they cannot win against. They are both wonderful people and I respect them regardless of their viewpoint.
