A friend of mine has just been to Air port. And report's it's crazy time, there's hundred's of peep's trying to get flight's out, "anywhere". So if youve got to go. leave pleanty of time.

they might be the backpackers from the khaosan rd - yestarday's shootings and explosions scared them from staying in thailand at all.

also there were diplomatic warnings for tourists.

some travellers are worrying about airport safety if protests do spread around bangkok and the whole thailand

Natural reaction for tourists to want to leave as they came here on holiday. I have lived here for 11 years and intend to stay whatever happens in the future as I have a responsibility towards my wife, her family and the 1,500 children at the school I work at. That said, if I was on holiday in another country and violence erupted I am quite sure I would get my wife and I on the first plane out of there and back here to Thailand.

No need for local expats to mock tourists for leaving. Why shouldn't they leave? They came here to enjoy a holiday, not dodge bullets or hide in hotels.

It is to be expected.

There will off course be many reasons why people will be looking to fly out earlier. Business appointments abroad , travellers who were just passing through Thailand, and those that just want to get away from the madness, to name just a few.
