Vfs Office In Bkk Open?

Featured Replies

Hello all.

I heard on another website that the VFS office was closed due to the recent problems in BKK and perhaps also due to sonkran.

Can anyone please tell me if they are open as I haven't been able to ring due to the time difference in the UK.

Many thanks.....slippery

:) My GF went to submit her visa applcation today and was turned away, I am hoping somebody on this site can give mean up date as to when the VfS will be open again.

From the VAC website

19 April 2010: The VFS Visa Application Centre in Bangkok remains closed due to a large number of demonstrators in the vicinity of Regent House. VFS are unable to accept any visa applications or return any travel documents until the crowds have dispersed. Please continue to check the website for updates on the reopening of the office. Alternatively you may telephone the VFS call centre on 02 800 8050 for further information. We will continue to monitor the situation closely and hope to resume the application service as soon as possible.

The embassy website has a similar announcement.

The VAC is open for business again from today (taken from the VFS website today).

20 April 2010: The visa application centre is to reopen this morning on Tuesday 20 April with additional security measures in place at Regents House. There continue to be some protestors in the area and visitors to the application centre are advised to note the following advice on the British Embassy website

'The political situation in Thailand remains volatile. British Nationals should exercise extreme caution throughout the country, and avoid demonstrations and large gatherings, some of which have turned violent.

Violent clashes in Bangkok on 10 April between anti-government (Red Shirt) protestors and security forces left 23 people dead and many hundreds injured. The Government has warned that further violence is a possibility. If violence breaks out again British Nationals are advised to remain indoors and to monitor the media and this website.'
