Went to do a 90 report on the 28th Dec 2009 and the next reporting day was put as 20th Jan 2010 which made sense as this was the date that my visa extension expired and i assumed it would come under the same thing.

Visa extension was applied for on the 20th Jan and granted on the 19 Feb, great.

Went today to do my 90 day reporting and was told that i had i had to pay an overstay fine as i didn't do a 90 day report on the 20th Jan :) .

Asked them why would i have to report when i had already filled out an application for my yearly visa and was told that this was a different thing :D ,i did also mention that it would have been helpful if this was pointed out to me at the time but her reply was that i should have known.

Moral of my story, never assume anything and perhaps i should have known better after living here for 7 years :D .

Reporting is always done on a TM.47 form - if you had filled one out on the 20th they seem to have been agreeable to honor it as a favor to you. But it seems you only filled out your extension of stay TM.7 form on that date. The only time that is counted as a 90 day report is the first application after a normal 90 day visa entry. Thereafter you must fill out the TM.47 each time you report.

I understand what you are saying, but i thought the purpose of a 90 day report was to report in person and confirm where are staying which i done all be it on a different form, and logic ses that filling out a visa extension application would take prejudice over a 90 day reporting form :) .

Another thought i have just had is that if the application had been turned down then the 90 day reporting on the 20th jan would have been irevelent anyway.

Anyway alls well that ends well, just a few baht lighter.

The same thing nearly happened to me but as I was walking out of the office in Amnat Charoen I realised that I didn't have the 90 day slip with my reporting date on. So I went back in and filled in the form TM.47 and got it but it was a close shave.

Was at Amnat on Monday for my last 90 day report and I was in and out in under 10 minutes, long may it continue!

Alfie, I understand where you are coming from. Logic would dictate that if you are at immigration to file for an extension, you are in fact also reporting your place of residence as such information appears in the application for extension. However, logic often fails to prevail.
