Bangkok: Assailants Fired M-79 Grenades At Sala Daeng Skytrain Station

webfact

The situation in Bangkok makes for a perfect time for the southern insurgents to really cause big problems for Thailand and the government. The government has been too busy playing politics to work on the southern problems and problems down south have been getting much worse.

There are way too many groups involved to point fingers at any particular group.

Nominated for dumbest post of the millenium

Nominated for one of the smartest posts. Some people actually know what's going on.

So you are accusing, or at least insinuating, that it was southern insurgents who fired a grenade at Silom station tonight- is that correct?

" SAD!!!! Jutuorn said Silom explosions had nothing to do with reds then he opened the music and let redshirts dance merrily."

Dance and be merry? These people are sick. Zero sympathy for any of these celebrating merrymakers if the military takes further action. They deserve what could come. Sick, sick, sick.

Would appreciate a video or a credible source of the above statement please. Thank you.

Oh for crying out loud, just CALL for ELECTIONS already so we can have some PEACE! Suck up your pride and just DO IT! Good grief, Mr. Abhisit! Even if it means "The Terrorists Win" or whatever.

That would not be and nor would it lead to peace.

In fact it would lead to the opposite. As long as this nonsense is permitted then there will be some color calling for new elections and using money all the buzz words that get the ignorant to join their cause just because their guy is not in power.

No, but I fully support this statement:

You really do not have to be a brain surgeon to figure out who did this and who has been disrupting Bangkok for the past month. There is a court case going to happen re coruption with the last election (not different from when Thaksin was elected...), so the Reds need to wait for the outcome, otherwise wait for the next election if you want a democracy. If you want chaos and bloodshed, then continue hopping along with the violent reds. It is time for the police and army to stop observing these criminals and take final action. These are NOT peacefull protests, but the authoroties seem not to know how to act ot use force. Nobody respects them and the Reds know they can easily remove their guns from them cause they are shit scared. If they do not act soon, this will just go on and on and on. Just sort them out!

That's not a credible source, that's babbling from a blogger with less followers than my grandmother.

Just been on Ch3 news. You are IN Thailand, I assume and can see the local tv networks, or are you just making some stuff up in your bedroom somewhere in Illinois while your parents downstairs think you're doing your homework?

Of course it was the reds. They have threatened this. Red shirt apologists, you should be ashamed.

Where is your proof that the red shirts are responsible? You're ASSUMING. Don't confuse people with lies before you have facts, please. Nobody knows who attacked who tonight. Nobody knows who launched the bombs.

Yeah, we all know...you know, too...

I am not watching TV now and not sure if the OP above was just making a crack but if you have been to the Red Shirt area you would see statements like this followed by dancing and cheering and dancing afterwards is not uncommon. Thankfully, the media is not pushing this aspect as the intelligent folks already have seen enough to know these people are both dangerous and being brainwashed by not stop hate filled lies by their leaders on stage. But here is one I would hope you have already seen ...

Okay, thats cleared up. It's just with Thaksin's record in the south, it's not surprising to see his supporters trying to blame this on the people he oppressed in the south. Now, let's see what happens with those who have been arrested.

THE NATION: SAD!!!! Jutuporn said Silom explosions had nothing to do with reds then he opened the music and let redshirts dance merrily. via@jobjabjab.

There you go. Is the Nation credible enough? Totally agree- Jutuporn and anyone dancing over this is totally screwed in the head. Why this Che character is still sticking up for these Reds is almost as sick

Shoot the messenger? I suppose you have something credible to counter this? Until I see your credible sources that it isn't happening, your posts, as you put it, are nothing but blather.

You cannot call an election every time (especially here) a minority group gets p'ed off and wants a new government - then you would have one every 6 months. Apply force and remove them from the streets. Or they will just vote in the most corrupt of all - Thaksin. These guys do not care about law and order...

Let's please remember that we don't know who launched these bomb attacks. According to Channel 7, one pink shirt was seen beating up a red shirt at the SkyTrain station, who he thought was responsible for the attacks. The man is now in the hospital in serious condition.

It was an attack on a skytrain station. You can argue all you want about what color shirt they were, but you cannot now argue that it was a terroristic act perpetrated by terrorists. I would suppose that everyone can take off the inverted commas now. Wouldn't you agree.

What kind of logic is that? I don't need to post a source to prove it isn't happening. The point is, if you post something of that magnitude, back it up with a credible source, otherwise it's just rumors and babbling.

Hows the revolution going in the economically failed state of Dubai or the military dictatorship of Fiji? I can see the purposde of being in both as a leftist although if you aint a locaslk it could be a tad dangerous. :)

This is all insane.

If the REDS truly want democracy, they should stop all this nonsense. Out of the millions of people in Thailand, how many actually just want life to continue. I would say what..85% of them.. if the REDS really believe in democracy then they should stop and listen to the majority of the people and just go home.

If they majority of the people were truly unhappy with the government, there would be millions marching down to Bangkok in protest. So really what are the numbers of RED protesters..thousands?? And how many are them are here just for a quick pay out..hundreds?

There you have it folks..the ultimate conclusion. This is not about democracy..this is about civil unrest by a minority group and a violent one to say the least. They are being bombarded daily with untruth and lies to rally their cause.

It's very very sad.

And neither can you have an army coup every time you don't like the PM that was elected by the people. The army coup has clearly contributed a lot to the current situation. This didn't happen overnight, folks.

Totally agree. Jutaporn sick, Che person total idiot

Even if the 5 people they arrested turn out to be the terrorists and are part of the Red Army then the Red Leaders will simply say they were Fake Reds ... hasn't this been their standard operating procedure from day 1?

if some people commit an act of terrorism.. it's some people.

if some australians set off a bomb, you cannot punish all australians

if some women set off a bomb, you cannot punish all women..

if some polkadot-shirters set off a bomb, you cannot blame all polkadot-shirters.

there are individuals under the shirts..

most of whom would be non-violent and against the attack.

This is the most intelligent post I have read tonight. The usual culprits are again frothing at the mouth. Me thinks this forum has a strong yellow tinge and a great deal of the posters would not have a clue about Thailand outside the protected western shelters of Bangkok, Pattaya or Phuket. Is good for a laugh though.

And as 2 foreigners are supposed to have been injured, the foreign press will have a field day and put the final nail in the tourist industry.

Well, this is 3rd news on the BBC RSS feed right now, so yeah - one could expect lots of cancelled trips.

Was supposed to go to Thailand with wife and kid (been there for 6 years 10 years ago), and although I was not worried about demonstrations and protest, and have seen lots of things while living in Bangkok - firing grenades at skytrain station is not something I would have expected. That's a shock.

Now I am having seconds thoughts. Crap :)

TAN Network: PBS: Glass bottles, marbles being used as weapons between Silom locals and red shirt protesters as clashes take place at Saladang

Okay, who started throwing marbles? I'm sure they stole them off some little kid.

Funny you say this after just saying the following...

"cheguevara", why don't you just shut up and stop spamming. It's so obvious you are posting propaganda. You even signed up to the board around the same time the reds came to bangkok.

All we know is that the government has denied independent investigations into the April 10 clashes. And they will probably deny independent investigations into today's attacks as well. So make up your own conclusions, folks.

That's incorrect. It's not all we know. One thing that's pretty well known is that there is person who has been threatening to do precisely this sort of thing and he has been walking freely as hero at the protest. We know that. We know that with certainty.

My Thai wife and I were both Abhisit supporters until last week. It's become obvious now that he's incapable of solving this national crisis and should go -- immediately -- by whatever means. What's happening in BKK right now is disgusting! They could have spent $10 million on an Israeli ex-commando and taken Thaksin out long ago and this mess would never have happened. In fact, they could STILL do that, yet they don't! Why Abhisit thinks he has to be polite and "Thai" and negotiate in this situation is beyond comprehension. Further, Abhisit has totally failed to get the PR out to the foreign media for his side. The reds are doing a fantastic job of int'l PR on the other hand. Much of the foreign press actually seem to think the Reds are a legitimate grass roots movement and that the Democrats are actually the bad guys. <deleted>? How can they let that happen???

My wife hates the reds more than anything but now she's saying let's call elections right now, and of course Thaksin's red cronies will win via their usual cheating and vote buying, and soon Thaksin will return to take over as de facto dictator for life and rapidly turn Thailand into a backwater rivaling Cambodia and Burma. Som nom na to all the poor uneducated issan peasants who supported that crook. It's a shame most Thais will never have the option to leave like my wife and I will, not to mention, they will never have the option to get rid of him either.

As I typed this my wife just sent removed Abhisit as her friend on Facebook. She's pissed :D

I agree with most of this. Two weeks ago, I thought he just have bad consultants showing him the wrong direction. The multi-colored movement honestly surprised me. Then I thought, may be it's a clever solution to make the civilans things sorting out. When Nazis started to burn down homes of foreigners a couple of years ago in Germany, it was not the police who stopped them but a few 100.000 people demonstrating on the streets and showing that they not agree with racism.

Anyway, there's a big chance that Thaksin will be the winner of this game - so your wife is unfortunately right :)
