My friends told me that Pattaya is a place which sex trade is imminent or almost the whole economy there depends on sex-trades or related.

May i know how and what is the real situation there?

Yes it's true!

You can't even go to buy a morning paper with out being pestered by one of the million or so prostitues :o

TROLL maybe :D

It's true ! I come downstairs from my apartment, and there's usually 2-4 "ladies" hitting on me right away, at 8 in the morning (in all fairness, they live in the same building, so it's quite natural for them to be around).

But honestly, Don't go to Pattaya. Too much crime, everything is seedy, everybody wants too much money for everything. Some people even charge you double for stuff because you are a farang !

Always a water shortage. Garbage everywhere. The place is crawling with lady-boys and criminals.

Go to a nicer place, like Bangkok, Chang Mai or Phuket. Clean streets, no crime, friendly people, no sleaze, cheap prices. Much better places than Pattaya !

:D

I have been to Pattaya once, when I got kidknapped by the Ulan Bator branch of the SAGA holidays club. I regained conciousness in Mongolia, surrounded by a number of toothless old hags croning over me. I then woke up and found I was in my wifes village.

What an evil, rotten place.

I first visited Pattaya in '93. They slipped some kind of chemical into me, which makes me keep coming back time and time again ! :D

I'm forced to enjoy parties that can last all night, friendly people, good food and (usually) great weather. :D

I even have to go to the Blues Factory each trip (though I never have seen the ever-elusive "Dave"). :D

You do get a lot of exercise in Pattaya though, dodging holes in the streets and sidewalks, weaving through the crowds, twisting and turning to avoid the clutches of those innocent farm girls, leaping piles of dog crap (and dogs themselves), jumping out of the way of moto-taxis driving the wrong way down the street. :o

That's why I don't bother going to the discos. By the time I get there, I'm too tired to dance ! :D

oh, yes, Chiang Mai, a heaven in paradise indeed with no crime at all:

Chiang Mai police round up teenage gun gang

CHIANG MAI: -- Police in Thailand's northern city of Chiang Mai today arrested four youths who have been terrorising local residents by shooting indiscriminately at passers-by.

Mr. San Yarangfan, aged 20, along with three other young men aged 18-20, are said to have driven around Chiang Mai and its outlying on motorcycles, training their guns on local residents.

Over the past month, six people have been killed or injured as a result of the gang's activities.

According to Pol. Lt. Gen. Phanuphong Singra Na Ayutthaya, commissioner of the Provincial Police Region 5, all the suspects are drug addicts, and engaged in their shooting sprees for 'a bit of fun'.

Police, who are blaming the youths' parents for poor supervision of their offspring, are now trying to arrest a final member of the gang who managed to escape.

Hey salz why are you asking about the sex trade a week after your post on becoming a permanent resident. Are you looking for places to stay away from, or to go to? :o Or should we just take everything with a pinch of salz  :D

I'm looking at settling somewhere in Thailand and do some small biz like a budget hotel... I was looking at Pattaya where it seems like a tourist crowded area with beaches...

I dont really want to be in a place where sex trade is all about the live...

Well, at times Pattaya does have beaches crowded with tourists (high season sometimes), but they don't stay there all night.

So when the sun goes down, they like to PARTY !! And where there's a party, there tends to be GIRLS.

Some of them (so I've heard from DaveThailand) might even offer their "services" for a price, in some of the 2,999+ bars (except the Blues Factory).

Some of those innocent farm girls might even take their new-found boyfriends to a cheap (i.e. Budget") hotel, to get to "know" them a little better.

If you don't want to be around the sex trade, I suggest you think about places like Krabi and the Phi Phi islands (just make sure your hotel is waterproof !).

4.Papaya pok pok restaurant.

5.An indian tailor because everyone needs to have one.

6.A band to play Stairway or Hotel calif outside your room.

7.A resident tatooist to make sure your esteemed name or initials are engraved on you new loves butt.

8.An immigration agent to make sure it all works getting her back home.

OH! and by the way Salz....some good news...

The local council have made the Beach a sex free night zone by requesting that the deck chair operators don`t stack their deck chairs too high at night....

SO you will be able to have sex free wanderings all alone along the Pattaya shore and be able to dip your toes in the fresh clean sea water...

..I`ll bet you can`t wait... :o

I didn’t know I was handsome until I went to Pattaya, but 20,000 bar girls can’t be wrong – can they?

Oh dear! What a sarcastic bunch you all are!

Just tell him/her that Pattaya has about 20,000 working girls. Don’t compare it to Hamburg or Amsterdam – how many men go to those places and marry a working girl?

If you want to avoid the sex trade it’s not really possible but it’s hardly offensive, and you won’t be involuntarily exposed to any ugly sexual acts.

There’s lots of other stuff to do there. Food drink and water sports are all good, plentiful and cheap…

Why don't you have a browse of the 100 or so most recent topics in the Pattaya Forum?

That way you'll have a much better and informed approach, rather than posting such a naive question (not meaning to be rude but it is a bit wide-eyed and immature).

Then you can come back and ask specific questions... :o

Pattaya has plenty to offer other than tons of bars and available ladies, ladyboys and men. Yes, it did become popular because of the nightlife and beach, but many ex-pats have decided to stay for other reasons. The cost of living is lower than other resort cities, plenty of sports possiblities, esp golf. Many fine golf course are within an easy drive, at affordable rates. Another plus is that there are plenty of guys from whatever country you are from to network with. Good luck with your choice.

Moto-taxis seldom drive the wrong way down the street. They're always on the <deleted> footpath!

And you forgot the newly laid footpaths all over South Pattaya - paving tiles sticking up at all angles, waiting to trip up drunken farangs (are there any other sort?).

Even on the golf courses all the female caddies are out to exploit the poor unsuspecting farang - quickie behind the bushes / lop a stroke off each hole / tread on the opponents ball(s).

Really - if you do not know Pattaya - stay away - it's too much for a normal guy to take.
