My son (British) has just phoned from Vientiene, where they have refused him a tourist visa. Don't know why yet.

Would welcome any advice.

Most likely he can re-enter by a land crossing and receive a 15 day permission to stay, or 30 days by air. Then go somewhere else and apply for a tourist visa.

We can only guess why he was refused, but if he's young with previous tourist visas in his passport they would assume he's working illegally.

Dude, you really need to write more then 11 words if your asking for anyones help. Your lack of information will get you nowhere here. How old is your son? What is he doing in Laos in the first place? Did he enter Laos from Thailand? What visa DID he have when he entered? Was he dressed like Bob Marley?

Like another member posted (beachguy), there should be no problem getting at leas a 15 day entry tourist visa unless he has a lot of back to back ones? Also he stated he can fly in and get a 30 day.

MORE INFO PLEASE !!!!!!!!! banjo-playing-buddy-icon.gif

You made a posting on 20-Jun-2009 indicating your son had been refused a tourist visa at Kota Bharu with 5 back to back tourist visas. Suspect that kind of answers your question why he was refused a tourist visa at Vientiane.
