McDonalds Silom Center Bombed

BANGKOK: -- The red-shirt protesters at the Lumpini Park refused to remove the bunkers on Rajdamri Road in front of Chulalongkorn Hospital in line with the order of the leaders at the Rajprasong Rally site.

Jatuporn Promphan, a red-shirt leader, announced at the Rajprasong rally site that the leaders sent Suporn Atthawong to remove the bunkers in front of the hospital.

But when Suporn arrived at the Saladaeng Intersection at 11 am, he encountered Maj Gen Khattiya Sawasdiphol, who would not allow the removal.

... now where was that red self-destruct button?

And who is reporting this ? YELLOW MEDIA PROPAGANDA.

How do you KNOW what is being said ?

It looks like last night they decided to rebuild it and thats it. When they want to take it down they will, but not before.

As Suthep has ordered it taken down it appears there is now a chance to make him back his words up, hence leaving it in place now perhaps ?

McDonalds corp makes more money than the Thailand GDP and has a bigger army. Not to mention they are US.

Luckily for the blood shirts this attack doesn't seem to be pointed at Americans or an American business. They're attacking the mall or the street around it. It would only take a couple platoons of US marines (and maybe an Apache) to clear Bangkok of these clowns.

I just wish it would affect the dam_n baht !!

Wishful thinking. Only a couple platoons of US marines and MAYBE AN APACHE would clear Bangkok of these clowns?

Look at Iraq, how many marines already lost their lives.

Your last sentence is insane as well. It's not the dam_n baht, it's the sick dollar and lots of brain damaged people.

Thanks, I was just figuring out how to politely tell someone that he's ..errrrr.. got it all very wrong.

Now if Team Yellow would not have massive oppressive censorship of the media and internet in Thailand, then we all could watch and listen to Red TV and we would know for sure what was being said, and we would not have to be confused by what YELLOW MEDIA wants us to think they are saying and making up stories of what they are said to have said.

But then, you cannot have massive propaganda in place if you allow media freedom.

So you see why Team Yellow has in place censorship and no media freedom in Thailand presently.

Remember the accusations against Thaksin for being "anti free press".

Abhisit goes down on the record now as being "worse than Thaksin" in terms of actually being in charge whilst implementation of media restrictions and censorship and what appears to be a massive propaganda play.

No, but I would suggest :

Team Yellow army commanders allowed troops to use live ammo on protestors on April 10th, before getting shot themselves.

Team Yellow is likely behind the Silom BTS attack.

Team Yellow is likely behind this McD's attack.

amongst many other things which will not be listed here.

Do you have any evidence to support these beliefs? You are certainly welcome to your beliefs. We all are, but what is your reasoning?

Who knows for sure oh Red One? I just think the governent look like having the upper hand at the moment. The longer they sit back now, the more likely the reds are likely to totally lose the plot, start in-fighting and blow themselves apart. As a result of their incredibly bad PR over the last week, many who were slightly symapathetic to the movement to begin with are now quite appalled by their actions and blatant lies. They are losing momentum, running out of ideas and beginning to draw widespread condemnation. Give 'em enough rope and they will certainly hang themselves

The Reds said they would "ramp up" pressure to prove the government is not in control of the country.

Looks to me like they are proving that ?

A test here is now will Suthep clear the barricades ? or is he not in control ?

Playing games ? I think the reds are...... allowing Team Yellow enough rope to slowly hang themselves.

I am not a fan of violence. However, reading that McDonalds was bombed put a smile on my face. McDonalds has been poisoning people and animals all over the world for over 50 years now. Respect to whoever did it and I hope they do it to more Mcshits.

awesome, so u are the guy that knows everything. maybe u can write a book so i can know some amazing knowledge too!

this isn't Iraq or even AF. this is a SMALL group of terrorist farmers blocking some roads and tossing ineffective bombs. in Iraq the battle is nationwide. this battle is isolated and limited. plus its Thai people. they haven't been effective warriors in hundreds of years. problem is both sides of this battle are just as inexperienced and ineffective.

bring in a group of combat ready US Marines and you'll see a difference. they won't even have to shoot. the farmers will run.

and yes genius, it is the US, UK & EU governments holding down the baht, but it is also the strong Thai economy. if it was only farange economies, then the whole world would drop together. so keep your "insane" labels to yourself and your ignorant views.

Any chance on showing some editorial restraint in the Thai Visa email news alerts?

It's frustrating how often a story such as "McDonalds Silom Center Bombed" turns out to actually be "McDonalds windows in Silom Center slightly damaged by what may or may not have been a Bombed which may have been thrown at the restaurant but then again may have not and for all we know it might have been gunfire, either way you should PANIC PANIC PANIC"

I do really appreciate the news service TV supplies - especially when it's accurate!

McDonalds have two new additions to their menu:

The "McDaeng".

Two rare-cooked all beef patties with beetroot, one rasher of bacon, tomato, capsicum & red onion...topped off with red curry sauce, all between two sesame seed buns.

Buy two & get a free glass of house McRed wine.

It literally explodes in your McMouth.

The "McPad" (vegetarian).

Two fried eggs, three cheese slices, sauerkraut, yellow capsicum, drizzled with a spicy mango suace, all between two sesame seed buns.

Buy two & get a free banana & custard McDessert.

(Not available at McDonalds outlets in airports for fear of causing unwanted 'blockages'.)

I think that you'll find the tide is turning and the government will assert more and more control over the next few days and weeks. I think the reds will become more and more hated as they commit worsening acts of violence, and people will want to distance themselves from the movement. I think they will be left with a hardcore of thugs and extremists who, admittedly will prove very elusive and difficult to put down. I expect this will be a long and drawn-out affair but that the government will ultimately prevail over these hooligans

Hasn't America already try sending in "combat ready marines" to SE Asia ie Vietnam. I seem to remember it was the Americans that had to run not the natives.

Speaking of blunders in the news and what those crazies are continually demonstrating in

They've invaded a hospital, messed with TV signals at Thaicom, blocked highways, stopped public transit, frightened sick women and children, threatened arson, committed terrorism, kidnapped people, taunted police, closed shopping malls, canceled Songkran, ruined the tourism industry, poured blood on the streets, stolen bodies, barricaded public roads, cost thousands of people their jobs, broken numerous laws, intimidated politicians, harassed citizens, fought the army, and threatened to send Thailand into a downward spiral of civil war that could tear the nation apart for decades to come.........

But McDonald's. You've gone too far, you've supersized our anger now!

Why do the "supersized" of the west seem to end up in Thailand?

To summarise his answer to the question.

The answer is no.

He makes things up and covers up the empty hot air with his fake aggression.

And twisting to change the focus.

The focus being of course to support his leader Thaksin.

Your...errrrr..."suggestions" lend an air of discussion to these threads.

However, when you make an accusation...errrrr..."suggestion" with nothing to back it up, and then you are called on it, you cannot in good conscience say:

"Do you have any evidence to support anything different ?"

Demanding someone to disprove your statements? Not their job. Your job is to prove your statements when they are brought into question. They have questioned, you have not shown proof.

Your arguments are not arguments, they are at best erroneous, specious, and fallacious statements.

But it's fun to read them.

Former member of the Thai Police, Col. Sanders was forced to resign from his post as a member of parliament after appearing on a TV cooking show where he demonstrated his recipe for fried chicken using 11 herbs and spices.

Col. Sanders was implicated in the scandal which saw millions of chickens culled during the bird flu outbreaks of 2004. It is claimed that he ordered his troops to open fire on flocks of chickens containing chicks. More recently he has been linked with gambling dens featuring underground cock fighting.

Red shirt sympathizer Col Sanders has been linked to plans to overthrow the current government by means of a military chicken coup.

This must be a sign of the red shirt terrosts retreat. They will bomb and pilage everything as they leave, leaving no food supplies behind them.

I've been in Kuwait in 91/92,(working),seen the Highway of Death.

Seen Kuwait/Suburbs destroyed by retreating Iraqyis, looting pillaging everything in sight.

Now history repeats itself in Bangkok, only the retreating marauders must be tought a lesson:

reminds me of the US and Allied pilots sayin,"its fun", like shooting fish in a barrel, remember??!!

Solve your problems the legal way and...

never come back;

never do such bad things again;

never kill again;

never approach or enter a hospital in vain, you might end up in the morgue of same

another thing,

since 80-90 % of protesters are from the central and northeast of Thailand, why dont you take your bamboo sticks, slingshots and car/trucktires and make a bonfire and jump into it,Sanuk Lah?

I have'nt seen an Thai/Indian,Chinese/Thai etc among the "Protesters cum Hooligans, because they are decent poeple and respect the law.

Not necesssary to join THAIVISA for that comment. I like to eat that -crap- and I am not alone!

Not our free will to decide what we eat?

Should the REDS not better distroy all Tobacco companys :D and Alcohol-destilleries, :) breweries :D and sales places :D of such things?

The above mentioned crap sure more hazardeous-in big quantities than my (crap) Big Mc.

there was no refusal, there was a vote in parliament

the Phua Thai lost by over 100 votes

the MP's walked out in protest as they could not get their own way

dummy- spat- out , springs immediately to mind

that was real democracy in action

Annoying though I'm sure this protest is for you guys living in BKK, just remember that these guys had their government overthrown by force, a gerrymandered constitution effectively imposed on them, their new government beseiged by paid hirelings (yellow shirts), and their political party banned by the establishment leaning judiciary.

when the deomocratic route is closed off, this kind response is, sadly, fairly inevitable.

Point by point

It is beyond annoying, FAR beyond.

Thaksin was a resigned caretaker PM with no sitting parliament a failed election cause by HIS SIDE<

and had unilaterally reinstalled himself as PM. No the Red leaning government was not overthrown by force.

There was no government including Thaksin not leagally being in the job since he resigned,

and HRM had NOT given his official blessing, as per constitutional law, to taking the job back.

Look up Gerrymander, you clearly don't understand the concept. Eldrige Gerry's tactics had nothing to do with this.

If anything Reds do this tactic in Issan. But the country voted on this constitution and ok'd it,

knowing it could be amended. PTP has fought against this amendment process.

The PAD protested about PPP unilaterally attempting to write a free Thaksin and TRT 111 clauses into constitution by secret.

PPP got caught cheating in the election and a very short list of leaders were removed and banned.

Grow up and just deal with it, PPP still has 220 MP's in parliament via PTP. Largest party. Not exactly thwarted democracy.

The courts finally grew some balls and started dealing with courpt politicians,

after the national embarrassment of letting Thaksin go in 20012

So very, very, close to breaking forum rule #15)

Not to use ThaiVisa.com to post any material which is

knowingly or can be reasonably construed as false, inaccurate.
