The sleeper leaves BKK at 21.00 ( that's to Surin,I would think that's the same train) All bus, plane and train times BKK-Surin/Buriram will be on my web-site in the next couple of days. Normally the sleeper is well booked though.

I think the train stops earlier at Don Muang (unless they've changed the times - again). I know it used to take about 1 hour from BKK (Huala Lumphong) to Don Muang. If you are travelling first class (approx Bht 950.00) you will be extremely lucky to get a berth by just rocking up at the station. It would be advisable to book 3 or 4 days in advance. Second class berths (1.80 m) may be available on the day but I would still go for a 1 or 2 day advance booking.

If the sleeper does leave Huala Lumphong at 21:00, you'll be very hard pushed to catch it unless your flight is early.

After you land, nip over to the station and ask what is available. If you're happy with the 06:30 and there are seats, buy your ticket then. The only problem then is to decide what you are going to do for the 8 hour stopover in BKK. I'm sure you'll find something. :o
