Hello everybody,

I have been offered a teaching job in Thailand and I find myself in the situation of having to modify my tourist visa. I must say, this is my first visit to Thailand and I was not sure if I will live here for a long period of time or it will be just a vacation. Anyway, now I'm bombarded with all the documentation and the visa run perspective, so what better place for my angst that this forum?

I want to know if I need to go for a visa run and transform my tourist visa into a non-immigrant B visa (with all the paperwork hassle implied:letter from the school, job contract and God knows what more) or I can just pop at the immigration office in the city and they can make the adjustments to my tourist visa on the spot? I need all this for the work permit and such.

Awaiting helpful answers.

You can apply for work permit using a tourist visa - only the issue requires the non immigrant visa. Believe teachers can obtain a non immigrant B visa from a Consulate with normal work paperwork (an perhaps without work permit receipt which is required for others). Suggest you read in the teaching forum as information specific to teachers may be found there.

Welcome anyone with specific teacher requirements posting here to help out. Also believe an exit of country is normally required to obtain.
