Yellow Bus Routes In Bangkok

Featured Replies

I have seen several yellow buses in Bankok. Some are owned by the BMTA. But the others are private. I think they are called MetroBus but I cannot find the website.

Is there a listing of the route these buses take and how much they cost?

Thanks

The Metrobus (all the ones I have seen are white) has about 10 or 12 routes around Bangkok. At some of the bus stops where it stops, there are signs on posts with schematic maps of all of their routes. Probably difficult to comprehend if you don't read Thai, though.

I might be able to help, if you tell me what part of town you are interested in.

The yellow buses are not Metrobuses, the Metrobuses are white with purple lines on them.

here is a link to the website

enjoy

Oh click on the thai word under the contact details to enter the page properly.

Thanks. That is what I was looking for. I wanted to try them out since they are really new and clean.

Yes, the buses are white. And very new. I was confusing them with the yellow government buses which are also newer.

When using the Metrobuses you must enter by using the door near the driver, you must then pay the correct fare which is printed on the front of the bus, as no change is given and there is no ticket collector. You put the money into the box next to the driver and sit down or stand up.

You leave the bus from the door in the middle.

The smaller metrobuses use the same method of payment upon entering but you leave by the same door.

It's a standard fare of 20 Baht for any trip on those white metro buses and yes you slip you fare into the box by the driver and no change is given (same as with the Midlands Buses here in the UK).

I heard about the yellow bus yesterday on thai tv, i think they said its free for a certain period and then 10 baht until near the end of the year (nov?) and then they start the standard fares of 12-20 baht. They are testing it out on a few routes right now, to find any problems and fix it before it becomes available in a more variety of ares

Im not sure about the information, didnt pay special attention to the tv at the time (someone else was watching)---could anyone else verify the information?

The service you mention in your post, is NOT what is being discussed in this topic. The yellow buses you are talking about are part of the NEW BRT bus service.

It is a 16.5 kilometer new feeder route (cannot remember the exact route) but it runs on a dedicated/separated inside lane, from which cars etc. are barred. It links up with Chongnonsi Sky train station; albeit via a long foot bridge across the intersection.

I live on Narathiwhat Road and the dedicated bus lane from Rama 3 to the Chongnonsi/Sathorn intersection and back is now complete. The lanes are kept separated by curbstones painted in white and green. New traffic lights have also been installed with separate signals for the BRT and ordinary traffic.

The service is supposed to begin 15 May 2010 and is indeed free until the end of the September. After that period there will be a flat fee of 10 baht until the end of the year.

At present I use the lane with much pleasure as my private bicycle lane to and from work in Silom.
