I keep noticing that in a number of threads and various replies the phrase ' government / PM...order the killing of civilians' , keeps cropping up. Does anyone have evidence that at some point in the not too distant past the government sat down and ordered the army to go and kill civilians????

If my memory serves me right the PM ordered the rally to be dispersed in line with International standards. And was at the time very explicit that these were his wishes. Unless international standards include ordering the killing of civilians how has this phrase become accepted as the truth??

The only line they have to pursue is to keep saying that over and over,

and hope their base and a few others believe it. Hopeless.

Right, so Suthep will surrender tomorrow and then what? More demands?

They are not going to leave tomorrow.

Morons...

Suthep will surrender and walk on bail after 30 minutes, with a trial never happening. Just like the yellow shirts surrendered and walked on bail after 30 minutes and 2 years later, a trial is still not visible on the horizon.

However, when the red shirts surrender, they will not be able to walk on bail after 30 minutes. The strictly enforced double standards in Thailand prohibit that. :)

So? The redshirt charges are spurious, an attempt to throw up a smokescreen around their guilt. They attacked the military. they have been responsible for all deaths . The government and its officials committed no crimes. Frankly seems like the reds are stalling, the government should see that they have to be crushed by whatever means including aggressive actions in those regions where they are strongest. It is two bad the factionalism this afternoon didn't lead to the reds saving the government the trouble of undertaking a course that seems unavoidable.

What are you babbling about? Do you want me to pull up photos of 2 years ago when the yellow shirts attacked the army and the police? What about the grenade attacks that happened when they took over the airports? Held all the airplanes hostage for days? Why did they walk after 30 minutes? If the red shirts are terrorists, aren't the yellow shirts terrorists as well? And the government officials didn't commit any crimes? What about the Foreign Minister that played a big part in the airport hostage taking? So again, what are you babbling about?

Out off topic -sorry mods!- but:

"We must say here what is a known truth, which we have always expressed before the world: firing squad executions, yes, we have executed; we are executing and we will continue to execute as long as is necessary. Our struggle is a struggle to the death."

Ernesto "Che" Guevara de la Serna

Enough is enough. Roll in the tanks. Cut the BS.

You really need that blood flowing don't you? Not yours I assume.

In case you haven't noticed, blood already has flowed and there is no reason to believe that continued inaction will staunch that flow. It's like an infected wound. If treated properly and in a timely fashion, tissue damage can be contained and minimized. But once a wound is gangrenous and the infection is spreading systemically, a decision must be made whether or not radical surgery, despite its known risks and aftermaths, offers the best chance of the patient's survival.

If I believed in God, I would be praying now...

I cannot see any right thinking person disagreeing with you.

Only the trolls masqurading as red supporters.

I disagree - so I'm a troll? of course everyone disagreeing with you 'must' be wrong? rolling in tanks in the middle of the Caital? last time I heard that done was Bejing - it would simply inflame Thailand and push it into civil war.

However, do you agree that the Chinese DID solved the problem by rolling in the tanks?

Or do you care to disagree.

BTW Tanks (or APC as you call it) were rolled and destroyed on 10-Apr-2010. Want to see some photos?

Well it did solve the problem that's true - but I don't think China is better for it - the killing of students - anyway we sort of veer off topic - leaving China aside - it will further emphasise the divide

Now Abhisit has said that provided Parliament is OK with he's willing to duck down to the cop shop also. What a strange place this is.

When was last time Abhisit visited the parliament ?

One or 2 months ago ? :)

For the benefit of those that don't follow news:

Abhisit attended Parliament last Friday, 3 days ago.

The Nation: here's latest twist. Nuttawut said Reds won't accept Suthep surrendering to DSI. "Conflict of interest", Nuttawut said.

Of course not, Suthep is basically the guy who runs the DSI. It's like Mickey Mouse surrendering to Disneyland. :)

Che, can you please find Suthep somewhere in this diagram????

Or tell me how Suthep runs the Ministry of Justice????

So it's really Donald Duck you are talking about? Or maybe Goofy

Deputy PM to surrender to DSI on Tuesday.

BANGKOK: -- Deputy Prime Minister Suthep Thaugsuban will surrender to Department of Special Investigation on Tuesday to testify against a complaint by victims of April 10 violence.

The decision came as red shirts leaders announced that they would end the rally at Rajprasong if Suthep surrendered to face charge.

Relatives and families of victims of the April 10 violence, led by opposition party Pheu Thai, filed a complaint with DSI against Suthep and PM Abhisit Vejjajiva for allegedly ordering the crackdown, resulting in death and injuries.

Let us know when the reds are gone, thats all.

The rest is total unintresting.

I though RED say Police and not DSI.

Wow, it took how many pages for someone to notice this? :)

How difficult can it be?. The redshirts want to fool Suthep in to trap. If he surrender to the police and they let him go even if the evidence against him are indisputable for put to actions attack with live bullits killing 25, injuered 1000,- then the police have to let all the redshirts go free also. :)

Maybe Suthep "surrendering" to DSI is the wrong word to use; maybe "reporting" to DSI is more appropriate as he is going in just for questioning relating to the complaint. Lot of Red Shirt "spin" of the story/event going on here. What has the Red Shirts leaders really concerned is that they must surrender/report to the police on 15 May--I'll be surprised if they report on that date and will continue to try to bargain for a deal which will let them off the hook. Heck, the Yellow Shirts weaved, dodged, and delayed until they pretty much got off the hook. I guess weaving, dodging, and delaying works well in Thailand.

It's worked so for the Red Shirts who have weaved, dodged, and delayed for even longer (three years for their rioting charges).

Well, reds said they will go home when he surrenders?

If he surrenders tomorrow will the reds now man up and go home?

You tell me

If he surrenders to the POLICE, not the DSI which is full of all his mates..!!

What for? He is not accused of or charged with anything and there is no warrant for his arrest. Contrary to what is the case with the red terrorist leaders who are still making demands and claim they have some rights. Terrorists never have any rights. Except to die peacefully.

Suthep and Abhisit shouldn't have to face equivalent charges for anything. The reds are convinced that both are responsible for the killing and wounding of many on April 10. However, their "proof" as they call it, is from a video played by Arisiman which shows nothing but shadowy, blurred figures. That's not evidence at all.

The government has no problem blaming grenade attacks on the red shirts - without even blurry video evidence. So where is that evidence? Better a blurry video than nothing at all. :)

Nothing at all? For starters, Che, maybe you missed this:

"The Department of Special Investigation (DSI) announced on Friday night that it has arrested an ex-policeman and another suspect who allegedly confessed that they were hired to attack the Temple of the Emerald Buddha with RPG rockets...Pol Lance Corporal Bandit Sitthitum, 43, and Supanat Ui-yawet, 43, were paid 500,000 baht by Pol Lt Col Supachai Tuikaewkam, whose wife, Juriporn Sintuprai, was a red-shirt leader from Pattaya."

Who knows at this point what information Methi Amornwutthikul has given thus far, but it does seem that Sae-Daeng has been implicated in there.

Weng and his minions are just trying to prove that they are worthy of Thaksin's love and re$pect. They know very clearly now that if they aren't up for a proper govt overthrow then there are even more villainous thugs led by Seh Daeng waiting to take over. Their frantic meetings in their trailer are to discuss plans on how to best give Thasksin the 'happy ending' he so badly wants.....

Protecting Thailand by shooting at unarmed women? Have you seen the photos and television images of injured women in the hospitals? I can see his argument if the army shoots at men who might be armed with bamboo sticks, but I don't think there's an excuse for shooting at unarmed women.

And in accordance with the law and the SOE.

Suthep won't make bail. He is there to answer a complaint, and no charge will be laid, imo, so no bail will be needed.

Then I wonder if he will file a rather large civil suit for frivolous complaint. After all, there is some precedent of a certain Prime Minister using the courts in such a manner.

AND if Mr Abhisit fronts up as well, he will no doubt use the same argument (along with several others), which will make the complaint moot.

Then, if my guesses are correct, the ball will be squarely back in the red shirts' court. Oh, maybe that's not a good way to put it - court. The ball will be - back to them.

Sorry, the reds are there illegally, and know the dangers of attacking soldiers trying to do their job. Blame Weng et al for putting women and children in the line of fire. If anyone should be in trouble, it should be Weng et al for putting minors in line of fire.

Ah, Che, even your namesake wasn't *that* good a shot that he hit the target every time...some went astray, causing what is now euphemistically termed "collateral damage."

Mind you, he did kill a ****load of people, didn't he. Gender didn't matter to old Che, no... his killings were gender neutral, eh. Ahead of his time. And not known as a murderer, no. He became known as a butcher.

But you already knew that :D

The DSI does an outstanding good job and are not politically involved.

So Suthep will go there for questioning, not even be charged for anything unless keeping up with duty and national security is considered a crime.

Suthep may be a Drama queen, but he's not a murderer.

Wait for Seh Daeng himself and/or his buddies. They probably will throw a grenade or two into the red crowd, blame the govt, so that they can't stop being there, something like this could actually easily happen.

Thaksin never honored his words, why would the red thugs do it?

using women and children as human shield ( in the protest ) is a VERY NAIVE attitude ! no complain accepted !
