Thai Authorities To Sever Red-Shirts Supply Lines

The reds are terrorist:

(n) terrorist (a radical who employs terror as a political weapon; usually organizes with other terrorists in small cells; often uses religion as a cover for terrorist activities) [http://wordnetweb.princeton.edu/perl/webwn?s=terrorist]

(n) terrorism, act of terrorism, terrorist act (the calculated use of violence (or the threat of violence) against civilians in order to attain goals that are political or religious or ideological in nature; this is done through intimidation or coercion or instilling fear) [http://wordnetweb.princeton.edu/perl/webwn?s=terrorism]

from the definitions above you can clearly see that the reds are indeed terrorist because i've heard the reds talking about waging war on the government [on the red radio station] and if that isn't causing fear or TERROR in the hearts of the people in Bangkok then I don't know what is.

I was in BKK two weeks ago . Did not see anyone terrorised .

Unlike Manila , nobody searched me when i entered a shopping mall .

Well well ...

Another strawman argument ---- or would this almost be cherrypicking?

"Did not see anyone terrorised" --- ah because pornsasi didn't see it it didn't exist! 2 weeks ago was approximately the time when grenades were flying at BTS SalaDaeng station? Or was it when red shirts were raiding a hospital? Or was it when the house belonging to an EC was bombed?

Pornsasi doesn't see threats and bombs and grenades and seraches as terrorism ..... sad. Seems that others don't agree with him and now that Sae Daeng has an arrest warrant out for him on that charge AND he named Thaksin as the leader that he listens to ... maybe Thaksin can get listed as a sponsor of terrorism and this can end with true justice. A few needles after a rigorous but short trial should be in order.

If you entered a red area you would have been searched in all likelihood. In fact, they have taken it on themselves to attempt to stop and search people on public roads upcountry.

What an organized (and honest) bunch they are.

Today, 2010-05-12 12:38:05

Weng dismissed rumors of the departure of Mr Weera from the country. He said the UDD chairperson had simply caught a cold and would return to the rally stage at Ratchapasong Intersection in Bangkok when he got well.

Today, 2010-05-12 14:07:17

Kokaew Pikulthong, one of the UDD leaders, said that he and Mr Weera would not yet turn themselves into the Crime Suppression Division because they doubt the sincerity of the government.

Today, 2010-05-12 15:53:48

Acting Commander of the CSD Police General Supisarn Pakdinaruenart revealed that the two UDD core figures, namely Mr Kokaew Pikulthong and Mr Weera Musikapong, told the police that they would travel to the CSD at 14.00 hrs today to surrender. The officers have alerted the Department of Special Investigation (DSI) and the Metropolitan Police Bureau to send investigative officers in to prepare for interrogation.

Today, 2010-05-12 15:59:55

THE NATION: Veera has reportedly resigned from UDD chairman. He seems to be only one who want to surrender and join reconcillation plan.

Reading this I can't help wondering if the red leaders are rushing to turn themselves in to

i. avoid the crackdown

ii. avoid Seh Daeng

Looks to me like they want to quit, but are rather in fear of the rogue general.

This is all so sad.

Some people say the proximate cause of this civil disobedience can be laid at the feet of the government itself - for failing to disperse the yellow shirts from the airport and government house, some 2-years ago. That omission gave a green light to these people.

Any support they had was lost when they savaged Chula Hospital. They would have been cleared weeks ago, in Beijing, New York, or London - and by non-lethal means. Riot police, humvees, water canons, gas, dogs, and mounted police.

Make peace - Please!

Please no peace, use lethal weapons so they can't/do not need to vote in the coming elections

Also have to wonder what mall he went to ... probably a sidewalk mall. He certainly didn't ride the subway were you will be searched if you are carrying a bag or purse now regardless if you set off the metal detector.

I'd say end it tonight with whatever means. If not govt needs to step down and let thaksin return to power. That way red shirts will go home and give yellow shirts some protest time. I'm sick and tired of seeing red.

Co-leader Korkaew Pikulthong said the protesters have their own generators, so they would still have electricity. They would also tap into the water pipes supplying the UK and the US embassies.

Out of curiosity, are citizens in a host country permitted to tap into an embassies resources without permission?

Problem is Abby is not a street fighter, he's a college boy. Thaksin was a street fighter he was a cop, he's been in the <deleted>. Not saying I take any sides here just stating a fact.

Am a street-fighter as well but nearly lost 2 fingers 2 weeks ago in argument with red-skirts upcountry so am not fit to battle, will go study instead

Hmmmmm, this could backfire.

If they try to stop the flow of reds coming into the camp, all hel_l could break lose. From a tacticle standpoint, they would then have reds to the front AND to the back of them. Army and police stuck in the middle.

This will either work or fail miserably. If the reds had any planning ability at all, they could surround the police and army from all sides and cripple them.

They should let in all the red shirts that show up also they should encouerage more to come. Just make sure they bring no suplies with them.

the red shirts have so descredited themselves that the only thing that could help them is to have the army come in throw them out physically and kill some of them.

then they could play the martyr role that would bring back the support they once had.

Actually, the Red Shirts called off the deal. They had what they wanted, but it wasn't what Thaksin wanted. That is obvious.

You are right! That is the right way to state this fact!

Look out the window when you near the Sala Daeng BTS station... you see piles of fist size stones and concrete rubble ready to be hurled, fuel soaked barricades supplanted with sharpened spears and razor wire, and that's what's in plain site. People with a mentality to create something like this clearly never had a peaceful protest in mind.

I agree with you on this.

The Red Shirts, trying to follow Thaksin's lead while trying to show that they aren't following Thaksin's lead, have ended up with such a cock up that they have lost almost all credibility. Giving them martyrs gives them something real to cry about.

Of course, they don't expect people to care about the poor women in Silom they killed, not to mention their shooters on April 10th, but that isn't important to them. It is what the other side does that they can cry about that is important to them. They have been crying about April 10th, which never would have happened if they didn't come into Bangkok with the battle cry that they were going to burn it down in the first place.

pornsasi,

there are people you could sympathize but that doesn't change the facts of their committed crimes.

Even Al Capone was a very nice bloke for his family and friends. Thaksin = same-same

IMHO Thaksin is indeed a criminal , Tai Bak ,war on drugs , and i said that here many times .

Please check my posts , is the truth

Yes, you are following the red-shirt script by saying you are distancing yourself from Thaksin by saying he is a criminal.

So, just more evidence of your true colour(s).

Sure - provided they aren't actually on US or UK extra-territorial property they can break any Thai law they like (which the Reds have and do.) For example, assume that US embassy staff really likes Thai Dunkin Donuts. Well, the Red Shirts could get a hold of the Dunkin Donut's delivery boy before he gets onto Embassy property, confiscate the donuts and donate them to the representatives of the poor like Arisman, Kwanchai who will immediately eat them on stage (televised) and really piss off the Ammart who want the deserving and destitute poor to eat only Somtum Boo Plaa, rocks and broken-down bits of old farm implements. What bastards!

A month ago when I suggested that the government start cracking heads I was chastised on this website. I think that now most people would agree that it is long overdue.

Cracking heads in never a good idea. I wasn't a good idea then and it's not a good idea now. I gotta better idea... why don't you instead of the govt. go out there and crack some heads?

When this thing first started, I told my wife it is easy to chase the Red Shirts out, just do more or less what Abhisit is proposing for this evening. She told me I was crazy (she says this a lot), and that you can't just cut off water and electricity to an area where other people live and where there are two hospitals (Chula and The Police General Hospital). I had to back off of my argument and agree with her.

Now, this is what Abhisit is threatening. Given I am now educated, I have to believe like the Red Shirts that it is a bluff.

Agreed, I'm usually against violence and Abhisit to his credit has avoided it so far, but enough is enough! I think the moderators should read my thoughts and ban me for I have an image in my mind of how Ghengis Khan would have dealt with this situation - you would see the rotting cadavers on poles between Bangkok and Isaan.

But fortunately we live in the 25th Century and so a little attrition plus a medium sized shoot out should suffice.

What is clear today is the rash of armchair Guardianistas (Guardian is left wing UK paper) who bend to ridiculous lengths to side with their cut out idea of who is the oppressed whilst at the same time would be screaming for the army to slaughter every last demonstrator had they behaved as the reds have in their home cities.

I think this forum is an excellent studying opportunity for psycho of various specialities; how a frustrated man can become a dangerous supporter of extreme policy... The effect of the stress.....A lot of variation in the studies.

I suppose that already some are preparing thesis....

A little of more cold blood in the Farang community,a little less agressivity, more reserve, we are far from extreme situations.

The Royal Embassy/Consulate of Belgium in Bangkok strongly recommends to stay away from or to leave the broad Ratchaprasong area and to comply with the curfew at other places in Bangkok.
