Australian Embassy To Close

Featured Replies

Apologies if this news has already been posted elsewhere in ThaiVisa, but have just noticed this info in the embassy web site:

"due to ongoing violent clashes in central Bangkok, including in front of the Australian Embassy, the Embassy will be closed to visitors from Monday 17 May 2010 until further notice. Australians in need of urgent assistance should contact the Embassy by phone, or they can contact the 24 hour Consular Emergency Centre in Canberra"

Thank you....

This is really vital information for me as my girlfriends visa is still pending...she was planning to go to the Embassy tomorrow.

On the 1900hrs ABC-TV news 17/05/2010 The Foreign Affairs Minister advised Australians not to travel to Thailand unless it was absolutely essential. The telephone number for consular services at the Embassy was also given along with the Canberra (ACT) number.

He also stated that the Embassy would be closed indefinately.

You will note that it will be closed "to visitors", since the Visa processing center is located elsewhere and transport of visas for processing are not "visitors", a call to the Visa center may result in advice that there is no change to pre-existing procedures?
