I can see now what's going to happen in the inevitable show trial.

Jatuporn, Natthawut, Arisman, Weng, Suporn et al will all confess that Jeff was indeed the brains behind the Red Shirts and that they were only following his orders.

"What can a poor boy do?

On the streets of London town

There's just no place

For a street fighting man."

LOL. Not such a big shot today are we? Police should look into how this unemployed hospital porter supports himself in Thailand. Some strategically placed yaabaa tablets would make their lives easier. I thought Pattaya police had already made a big song and a dance about how they were going to rid Pattaya of foreign scum.

Are you suggesting the cretin comes from London now? I thought it was advertised he was from Tonbridge in Kent? Or has that changed? London being the capital of England and Kent AKA "The Garden of England" a county in the south east of England albeit joined from north Kent (Sidcup) to South East London (Blackheath)

It should also be noted that Tonbridge is the less affluent part of that area whereas Royal Tonbridge Wells house prices stretch into the half a million pounds up, (25 million baht +)

A good example of a Canadian half wit involving in a matter he knows little of.

Might he not be better employed back in Canada rather than here ?

"Fight with the Reds"? I'm not sure how you mean that. I took part in driving off a fatfuc_k Ozzie who was down there a few days ago with a sign he'd made saying "You silly, stupid people: GO HOME". Had push come to shove, rather than him waddling off at speed when a Thai woman and I encouraged people to throw stones at the cun_t, I'd've gladly elbowed him in his fat face.
this from a Canadian guy who was extremely vehement in his and his wifes support of the red Shirt demonstration in Bangkok
When are you going down to let them know how you feel about how they should be bulldozed out?

Obviously not as theres still people posting comments that would label themselves as foreign scum.

"I hold my hands up — it was me, and I'm ashamed that I lost my temper," he told The Times by telephone from his home in the Thai resort town of Pattaya. "I was tired and emotional and full of steroids. I said we're going to burn down Central — I was being sarcastic."

A Brit, tattoos, steroids, empty threats, throws tantrums, home in Sisaket and lives in Pattaya. I get the picture.

I didn't see the pictures but it doesnt surprise me that he had tatoo's.

Ignorant thing to say.

Facts are a bummer are they not. :)

Don't forget the shaved head and steroid aspects of the profile.

Excessive tats, shaved heads and obvious steroid use should be reason enough to select for additional screening by Thai immigration at the border, if not outright denial. The behavioral dimension could be established pretty quickly.

Official: Welcome to Thailand, Mr. Savage. You have been selected for additional screening. Thailand requires all visitors to show evidence of financial means and an onward ticket for entry to the Kingdom. May I see your evidence and onward ticket, please?

Mr Savage: $%*!)? What the %)^@!* are you about?

Official: Mr. Savage, you are under arrest for abusing an immigration official, and will be detained until you can return to your home country.

Bangkok people coming out in their 1000's to help clean their city. Wonderful sight! /via @RichardBarrow :)

This is what Farang in Bangkok should be getting involved with. :D

Why? Are the bars closed today?

Cynic :D

Yep, sorry, need to pay less attention to all these bashful posts during these troubled times.

Couple of beers will sooth me :D

From the Andrew Drummond article

"Savage has a chequered history in Thailand the United States and Bosnia."

Huh? What does this mean? Is a "chequered history" different than a "spotty past"? Why no details? If we're talking a criminal record, then I don't see why those details wouldn't have been provided. Was he involved in something similar in those countries? That would be very interesting, but that line in the story just leaves us guessing.

(From the CRES) “A white Westerner was involved in the arson attack on Central World, convincing them to set fire to it."

I doubt very seriously that any westerner had any sort of meaningful role in convincing the arsonists to torch CentralWorld. If this yahoo speaks more Thai than is necessary to order a beer or curse at a mamasan, I'd be very surprised. From all that I've read about this, the die was cast for what was going to happen at CentralWorld and it was decided on by the red shirts with no need for input from this guy.

From "Reporter in Exile", who was on the scene with Savage last Saturday:

"On the morning of Saturday, May 15, we were in the process of doing this when the Crazy Farang ran out into the street to throw rocks toward the army, screaming "Thai Army fuc_ks!" and ordering the reds to "Kill them! Kill them!" They laughed at him. Obviously they were amused but didn't take him seriously. When an AFP reporter who'd stopped by told him to chill out, he screamed at him and tried to start an altercation. "They killed my friend! This is war!" he yelled. The reds threatened to kick him out at that point. It seems unlikely to me he participated in any conspiracy or any type of planning that might have led to the mall fire. I don't think he even spoke Thai."

That confirms what I had assumed. They were laughing at him and nobody was taking him seriously. No great mastermind. Really as dumb as he looked. Just put the permanent "return to sender" stamp on his passport and be done with it.

As much as we may laugh at the comment, it wouldn't surprise me in the least if that actually happened. Would be pretty conveniant. :D

This guy, and those like him are the embodiment of the word, "Twunt".

I wonder if his brother in law on 200bht a day will be making his bail payment?

I await with interest to see what charges are leveled against him...

Looks like they arrested the farang seen throwing stones in Chiang Mai at the advertisement outside the Provincial Governer's House in this Youtube video. He's a Dutch national who was in Thailand working as an English/French teacher, and he's confessed already.

He was turned in by a Polish former policeman married to a Thai who recognised him from the video.

There would be few residents left. What do they expect in a town full of prostitution, and drugs?

Get rid of the thousands of prostitutes and see how many respectable retired foreigners remain - what on earth would they go there for if not the above.

It is good of you to give us this input. The action was still illegal as an incitement though not an effective one. However, I think the part that has annoyed Abhisit was all the derogatory remarks he made to UK reporters starting with Evening Standards etc. that must have been the crunch that Abhisit has taken the interest in. Anyhow being a small fry and somewhat irrational, he can hardly be held as a terrorist. The most would be a suspended jail sentence if he was not previously in trouble with Thai law plus possible deportation. But in the meantime, he must be sweating of fear of the maximum death sentence if he is accused as a terrorist. It is not nice to have this waiting time on the fate of his life. It will be a long drawn wait of uncertainties that should satisfy a lot of writers in this thread.

Irene

if you view this video of Jeff Savage throwing stones at police at the Pattaya protests during Black songkran 2009

he admits in his interview with Andrew Drummond that he nearly killed someone at this uprising

so one wonders exactly how long this guy has been working with the reds and whats he been up to in between these two major events?

throwing stones in 2009 has escalated to threatening to burn down and loot a shopping mall in 2010

what anarchist events has he been involved in between that time and was not committed to film?

he states he has been paid by the reds so maybe he is not a terrorist in the definition sense but maybe he is a mercenary?

either way he is a menace and deserves what he gets

I do not understand how this twenty-plus storey building (Central World) burnt so disastrously.

What happened to all the fire-fighting devices that are built into any-and-all major structures these days - fire-compartmentalisation - fire doors - sprinkler systems - smoke vents - fire-proof seals on all duct-work - so on and so on?

Is Thailand one of the few countries, such as Burkino-Faso, where such precautions are ignored?

If Central World could burn like that, what are the chances of surviving in one of the major hotels in the same area?

I trust that any travel agency sending people to Thailand in the future is well covered for their own insurance, as well as insisting that the travellers take out their own insurance.

(Not that that would help them, but their surviving relatives back home may welcome some cash)

Irene.

Nice post indeed, the professional village idiot Geoff Savage probably does have some soiled underwear.

He or it has drawn all we expats into a dangerous game, the like of something I haven't seen in my twenty years of living and working here.
