Well, if you don't care at all about money, Thailand's your oyster. See the "excellent opportunity" in Maesai listed in this same forum, for example. Ajarn dot com also has an extensive teaching job listing on the medium to low salary side. Higher salary jobs typically mean Bangkok, plus experience and minimum qualifications, plus working here and building connections. Check out the "Questions About Qualifications" pinned above for many examples.

... I do not have a degree...

Wonderful, just wonderful.

Do you expect a Workpermit, or just wait to be rounded-up and deported for working illegally ?

Have you thought of Journalism, there may be some openings in the provinces for quality writers in the English newspapers.

we've gone the rounds of this before, and it's probably off-topic for this thread.... but Ken's right on the rules, a degree is not ALWAYS necessary to work LEGALLY as a TEFLer in Thailand.

Yes, I agree this is the case, but for a WP, you do need either a degree or some exceptional circumstances.

I know a guy who teaches up-country without a degree, but he was the only person who applied for the job, after months of advertising.

So yes, with exceptional circumstances you can get the WP, but in the normal case in BKK you would have difficulty. With the mobility of Degree Qualified people in LOS these days, the exceptional circumstances are a bit hard to prove.

No exceptional circumstances really....just the backing of the school (which I suppose could be thought of as exceptional :o ).

Also the OP is not talking about working in Bangers, rather away from the pollution etc.

I know a fair few that have done it and nothing exceptional about them (right Louis? :D ).

If the school wants to do it, they can do it. Although you may have to do the three month run thing (similar to if you earn under the minimum wage).

I've also heard for kindies you don't even need a degree.

Teaching at a company you'd be able to get a WP without a degree.

HND's or other quals comparable to a degree can be accepted.

Experience and proof that you can teach can also be accepted.
