I was supposed to have a guy help me out looking for cars in BKK over the next few days, but he is out of town. If anyone has a good car guy/mechanic that can help evaluate a few used cars, feel free to pm me with his info and I can negotiate from there so he gets paid for his time. Hopefully he'll have some English skills also as my Thai is Ok, but not near proficient to catch all the nuances. I've got a couple of cars lined up, but plan on looking at a few that are at tents, private sales etc.

I went to look for a used car a couple of year's ago. Im not stupid (Well maybe) after looking at a few I decided on two. So plan A, asked seller if I could take car to dealer to have it checked out . First one declined, Muttering something like no need as it's ok Trust me. Walked/run away. Next one yes sure took it to Toyota's, needed to much done. Said thank's again didnt buy. In the end got a new one. If you cant find someone to help you give what I did a try. And never believe what's on the meter. And get a service print out, FREE, no service again run, as the service print out will give you a rough idea of mileage, as they seem to doctor all the meter's here. You will find they can never find the service book funny A. Best of luck.

Thanks. Yes it's a tough ask but I am hoping someone can help out, then when finding a few suitable ones, have them tested at testcar as well as have a mechanic go over them. Unfortunately I don't have the 4 million for a new model, so a used car it will be for a project I have in mind.

Anyone else?

4 Mil for car my Buddha. You can get a new one for around 600000 + three years garantee.

why live in a house when you can live much cheaper in something like this?

It might help if you let us know what car it is.

Hak

Regarding local mecanic check your car: The condition of the car will be good anyway, even if it's not! Depend on how much comission the mecanic wil ask from the dealer.

In BKK now and have called quite a few personal sales and tent sellers. I plan on having the car tested at testcar. Either the personal sellers were "too busy" to take it even if I pay, while the tent sellers say the same as above the 'why should I believe another mechanic over them' line. I got one private seller to agree to the testcar and have two more prospects that should also be agreeable. For hakku it's a 5 series.

So out of over 10 cars, only one agreed to have it tested and it is a boss/company car that has a driver and he is the 2nd owner.
