I've done it 2 times using a one-way ticket into Thailand but have always showed an additional one way ticket to a nearby country from BKK.....1 time I received the visa in my country (USA) and one time in Hong Kong.
By the way....your stay will be for 60 days on a tourist visa (no matter how long you are really planning on staying) so make the 2nd one way ticket just before this 60 days expires so they see an exit in time from the country. Use an airline that has cheap changes to the 2nd ticket and keep changing it to a future date.
It's worked for me anyway.....

I've always come to Thailand on a one way ticket with no problems. When I fill out the tourist visa application (that I submit in Chicago) I just explain that I'm not sure how long I will stay and will book my ticket before my time alotted expires.

When you have a visa, you do not need a ticket out of Thailand as far as immigration is concerned. (Some consulates do want to see a return ticket before they will issue, though).

Only persons applying for a Visa On Arrival or for a Visa exempt entry need to show proof that they will fly out of Thailand per immigration rules.
