Hi all.

Your advice please. I have just received a very good quote from AA Insurance in Chonburi.of 12500 bht as opposed to 17500 bht from MSIG for fully comp on a Vigo. Has anyone dealt with AA before ? It seems a big jump of 5000 bht. These prices include a 20% discount for NCB.

I have also have to renew the road tax. I know the cost is about 6800 bht. Where can I get this done in Udon Thani ? Is this a painless operation !!

Regards

Mike

The road tax can be paid at any Land Transport office in Thailand as long as you have the vehicle blue book and have paid the CPL ( compulsory insurance) and have the receipt. Usually this can be done outside of most LTO (Land Transport Office). If the vehicle is older than 7 years you will need an inspection at an authorized inspection station. Also usually near the LTO.

As for AA, I have motorbike insurance through AA and a homeowners policy. They offer competitive auto insurance also. They will not steer you wrong. AA can also handle the road tax and CPL insurance if you want to wait and mail the stuff to them but far easier to do it yourself locally. In and out in a few minutes

I would suggest the difference is the Policies are not like for like, one may have a deductible in the event of an accident which can lower the price, are they both first class?

just renewed mine the govenment tax stamp in the book was 1650 baht same as last year and i think it was 500 or 600 for the govenment tax,my insurance man sorted it all for me as part of the sevice, ist class insurance was 16,000 but no excess and covers everything and i mean anything and everything, cover for 600,000 as its now a year old.only condition it has to go to a honda show room for any work needs doing in event of a claim, which i would have demarnded anyway.

"tax stamp in the book was 1650 baht same as last year"

I presume you have something like a Honda City or Jazz when you mention 1650 baht.

What I dont understand is "and i think it was 500 or 600 for the govenment tax".

What govt tax for an extra 500 or 600 baht are you talking about? I have never heard of paying an extra 600 baht.

Could be time to have a word with your insurance man.
