Have you tried updating from within IE UG? click on safety and there should be a windows update option, click that and see if that connects.

Oh, I see my IE is 8- in 8 its called safety, no idea what its called in 7. You will have to click around on the buttons then UG< until you see the one that says windows update

In IE6 you can find the update option under "Tools" (see screen shot).

I'm not sure but be carefull to use this unless you are sure your Win is legit!

I tried that, but can never reach the website. I always get this:

i am afraid that the shop deleted my real version of Windows and replaced it with a fake, but as long as you have the receipt for the real one, you are covered in Thailand, so that is not a problem.

Is there anyway to tell if it is legit without taking the chance that Microsoft will screw up your computer with a virus or such?

Well, I just clicked on the Win update and it goes straight to their site with a list of what I should install.

My Win is legit.

It is a problem if you want to have your Win updated by MS!

I would not think that a fake version would keep me from visiting the site without downloading anything, but maybe that is the problem?  :)

Just a thought. Not sure if this could be the case.

If the shop installed a non-legit WIN they could have instructed the firewall to block access to MS updates to protect you from running into problems.

Have a look at your firewall settings to see if MS update has been blocked from being accessed.

That makes a lot of sense. I am using Opera for only this website and it works much better than IE did. I will just have to figure it out some more as I am used to IE and some things are different.

Thanks to all.  :)

Mine too but for some reason I cannot download any updates from their website.

It's getting worse now.

Since your last maintenance an hour ago I cannot get into TV at all.

I've had to open and old saved page and get in through that.

Have you tried with Chrome of FireFox?

I can open it normally in Firefox but that's not really the point. Would I be wrong is saying that 80% of people use IE as their browser?

I've just upgraded to IE8 and it's all OK now.

Now checking if it was IE6 that was preventing me from downloading any other M$ updates.

Have yet to see if it has mesed up the computer in other ways.

Why don't we just give TV some time to sort out all the problems?

Obviously it is still an ongoing upgrade.

Let's wait for George to give the green light by announcing that the upgrade is completed.

After that we can can post any issues which members still have to help TV to fine-tune the software.

I think for now it is premature to start complaining.

Dear Opal:

I for one like the new site and all but suffice to say that because this is obviously a BETA work in progress, perhaps a little more time in refining (eg, does it work with the world's most popular web browser)was in order before launching it to the masses. Anyways, hope it gets fixed up soon.

Well loading IE8 was the ONLY update that M$ allows me to make.

I think this indicates that you have a non-legit version of WIN (your Win has not been activated).

It's definitely legal, it's a company machine and it passes the M$ legit software verification process.

UG, could you please try the forum main page again now with IE, and verify if it works?

Thanks :)

Yes, I just checked. I'm not sure how well, but I could enter the forum.

Thanks!
