To understand this post you need to follow the external links and read the stories. :D After reading you might agree with the sentiment. Still one wonders if this is all to it, or just the tip of a floating elephant.

Beating a policeman over a 6k baht debt they wanted to collect from the gurantoor (i.e. wife) that someone else had skipped out on. Seems like they have no limit on what is proper dealing with 'customers'...

Hopefully they are payed back by the policeman and his friends later...

I hope the police officer makes a full and quick recovery. I have a feeling this group will be quickly found and dealt with. Not the best idea to get the police really peeved at you.

UPDATE

3 Suspects Arrested Over Pattaya Cop Assault & Robbery

PATTAYA: -- Local police have successfully apprehended three of the 11 suspects involved with a brutal assault and robbery on a Pattaya policeman last Friday. The suspects are all believed to be connected to an illegal loan shark gang operating in the area.

Pattaya, the 20th of June 2010 [PDN]: In an announcement at the Pattaya City Hall on Sunday, police Colonel Theeraphon Jindaluang (Chon-Buri Police Deputy Superintendent) and Colonel Nanthawut Suwanla-ong (Pattaya Police Superintendent) revealed the successful arrest of 3 suspects involved in the brutal assault and robbery of Senior Sergeant Major Banjob Prasertsopha on Friday the 18th of June.

The incident, involving 11 members of an illegal loan shark gang, caused the officer to be admitted to the Pattaya Memorial Hospital suffering from concussion, a deep head wound and severe facial swelling/bruising. The attack allegedly occurred over an unpaid debt taken out with the gang by a friend of the officers’ wife. Having fled the area due to the unpaid debt Mr. Prasertsopha’s wife was deemed responsible for the payments by the gang, as she signed as the guarantor on the loan. Unaware of his wife’s dealings with her friend the officer confronted the gang and was subsequently assaulted.
