Featured Replies

guess you will just have to go back to find out,my opinions of indian tourists are not repeatable here as i would get a ticking off for perceived racial profiling.

I find Indians to generally be very polite and nice people. Now, if they can only be taught to not walk in the middle of the street while there are here....

Unless you ask them - How do you know they are Indians ?

Usually the war paint and head feathers give them away. But I usually notice little details like that, so...

Indian tourists not Indian tailors. Why do you guys get into all the PC crap. This is the Pattaya forum not the Ladies forum.

Pakistani, Sri Lankans, Indians who cares. An Indian is an Indian. They like to bargain. They take coke into MacDonald's because it is cheaper than buying coke at MacDonald's.

So who cares? I don't.

I was only asking if the current influx of Indian tourists that I read about on this and other forums is real? Is it?

Do five Indian guys go into a bar and order one beer? Do five Indian guys go into a soapy massage, bring their own soap and ask for a discount?

Do the Indian guys go into Indian restaurants and try to get a discount on curry because they are Indian?

If there are thousands of Indian people in Pattaya questioning the rational of Pattaya prices will this bring down prices?

Does the influx of Indian tourists mean that women will come running up to Falang and beg for his business because he is not likely to bargain?

The Russians I met in Pattaya were mean spirited and when I saw them flooding into a 7/11 I just waited until they were gone because I don't like being jostled and cut in front of in a line.

Do the Indians try to bargain in 7/11?

If you are not currently staying in Pattaya this question is not meant for you to answer.

I lived in Pattaya for a couple of years and I'm thinking of moving back because I miss the variety of restaurants and night life. I am wondering if the Indian tourists are having a positive impact on lowering prices.

I am wondering what parts of town the Indians frequent. Do they dance at the Bamboo at night? Where do they go?

YOU ASKED SO HERE GOES....Firstly I am living in Jomtien and have done so for 5 years on and off.

The reason the Indians are here is because a few years ago the Thai Minister of Tourism (a woman) decided to promote Thailand as a tourist destination in India. She wanted Indian families to come ...what for I ask ???

So a massive campaign was launched there and hence the "Tourists"

Indians are becoming more "affluent" after working for years in the middle east etc....etc..

Now , you need to know the following..In india you can only drink alcohol in private clubs or hotels. So when a group of young indian men come here and can buy beer dirt cheap in a 7/11 they can get a bit out of hand once they head off with new found Dutch courage to the bars....

The Indian Rupee cannot be taken out of the country - So Indians have to change what (little) money thay have into U.S. Dollars and then change them here to Baht. I saw and Indian man trying to buy beer in a 7/11 with U.S. Dollars and was politely told where to go.....

90% of the things they do here are paid for before they get here as part of their package holiday, they do not have wallets full of dollars or Bahts. Hence the group trips to Pattaya beach to have a few seconds on a jet ski or para sailing etc...

If you plan to return to Pattaya and want to avoid any one from the Indian sub continent. Then avoid Beach road, walking street, Mikes Shopping Mall, Jomtien Beach road, Tesco Lotus at the top of Theprasit Road and the Big C at the south end of Pattaya.........

And as for prices coming down.....NO WAY .....!!! The Russians have managed to mess that up buy paying 500 baht a head on the Baht Bus taxis from Royal Garden to Cozy Beach....So the Thais think we should all pay the same....!!!

How do I know all this?......I have spent the last 30 years working and travelling to over 35 countries. I worked with Indians in the Middle East and Singapore. I have travelled in India,

I now work with Russians ...and they think they own the world hence no queues in the 7/11....The Russian Ruble is 1 for 1 with the Thai Baht but everything here is a fraction of the cost it is in Mother Russia hence them paying over the odds on just about everything.

So now you know....but do not let me put you off coming back....COME ON DOWN TO PATTAYA....spend a week or two people watching and then make up your mind....

P.S. I do not go to Bamboo - so you have to get the answer to that one from someone a lot older than me....maybe some 80 year old coffin dodger ?

P.P.S. If you think its bad in Pattaya - try flying Jet Airways to Delhi with a plane load of them.............where can I buy a gun in Pattaya ????????????????

My friend who lives in China says it would be a great place to live except for all the Chinese! I believe the same applies to India...

Strange - I thought how much better Australia would be without Ozzies...!!! But then how much better would the LOS be without Farrangs moaning and whinging on here.......More Whine with your cheese vicar ???

As for apparel, tourists trousers and a long sleeved shirt look much better the the ones wearing shorts and a 'bad boys go to pattaya" T-shirt

I remember on my first trip to China seeing guys digging ditches wearing a nice pair of pants and a suit jacket. And yes, the Indians do dress quite well compared to other tourists...but I do love that rose/pink colored hair of our Russian female friends!

Further posts deleted and edited, this thread is getting to be heavily racist so I'm closing it.
