Just got the scoop from a friend.

10:00 a.m. at the Inn Come Hotel.

Interesting speaker scheduled but I have already forgotten what the topic is. But I'm guaranteed that it is an interesting speaker. jubby, perhaps.

Bring the wife as there are quite a few Thai wives in attendance and they all enjoy chatting and meeting each other.

Apparently there is also, this time and every time, a book and DVD swap.

Cost for non-members is 150 baht. Don't know if that is for one or for the couple.

Someone will add to this, I'm sure and they will correct any bad info I might give.

150 per non-member, not per couple.

Non-Member, So are we saying there is a membership with perhaps a reduced rate !? or am I one step ahead of everybody today too :whistling:

Surely Wives are free - No ? Any discount for having a Thai driving licence ?

Whoops! Got informed last night that I will be going to Doi Saket with inlaws. Maybe the truck will break. If not, is there a web site or a mailing list I can get on. Thanks for your help non the less.

Well, I have a meeting with some expats at Village Bar in Huoy Prakan around 16.30. Later I will probably have a meeting with some other expats at Ricoยดs!

And there I am going to have a Pizza! Yeah, Rico has started with pizza and they are really, really good. Almost as good as the Dukes in Chiang Mai and they are fantastic! post-29230-084567100 1278139862_thumb.gi

I've done a few taste tests on the Pizza myself. So have the Kids. And the Verdict is its the best in town. Beers almost as cheap as the Shops too. I have to visit more often now , as the Kids demand more Pizza. I have to have a beer while I wait unfortunately :)

How was the other expat meeting ?

Do you know if they do take out?

Indeed they do, Scea. I take them home to the Kids. Won't fit in the saddle bags as they are 13 inchers, but thats another story . Everytime I go there I see people taking out Pizza's and also Thai Food. The Thai foods top notch too, and very reasonable prices.

Hi matey, Its just by the condotel, on the otherside of the road. next to the little canal/Khlong, 100 yds from the start of Pradu Chiang Mai (Chiang mai gate , I think). Start of the Old chiang mai road. The Expat Meeting is good too, try different days, different expats. different broken biscuits B) . Its fun. :D

The expat meeting in Village Bar was as expected, good!

And then to Ricoยดs and there were lots of expats.

I tried Ricoยดs (maybe Frankieยดs) new invention of Pizza.

It was absolutely fantastic. It was hot but not too hot, very tasty.

I cannot remember the name but just ask for the new one if you dare to try it!

:P:D:P

The program was not great yesterday but our table was in good form and we entertained ourselves. The Nordic rollerblader was there and introduced himself to the group. He is quite a sight to see, striding down the highway with his ski polls and rollerblades. Quite bizarre but he looks in very good shape for his age. :D

I've seen that Guy on the Highway near Wiang Chai on my way to town occasionally. He is in great shape, probably the fittest Guy for his age in Chiang Rai. no shirt, no protection from the Sun, Tarmac or whatever. Unbelievable. I've got a couple of sets of Roller Ski's in the loft back home, Thats where they'll stay.

Who was the Guest speaker, and what was the subject ?

For those who are looking for it-

Rico's is on the pinned map. It is listed as Chiang Rai Corner/ Ricos. So, alphabetically, it is listed in the C's, not the R's.

A nice enough little Thai lady, who is apparently a senior educator, was the speaker. She gave a pitch for her school and played up her credentials. I felt bad for her and a little disappointed in the guys who chose her.

She may be best in her field but was not up to holding the attention of a group like that. The Norwegians and Swedes were unable to contain themselves and started their own conversation at their table until someone suggested that was not very polite.

I don't attend for the meeting anyway, but some speakers are more easily tolerated than others. They did have one guy a few months ago, who was interesting and engaging but maybe they just got lucky with him.

Doesn't anyone get the info for who's guest speaker upfront ?

How many attendees this time? Are the Tables set out by Nationality like the United Nations or something ? or did the Scandinavians have Horns & Battleaxe's to identify them. Its a nice change to see the Brits being more polite though.

You don't attend for the Meeting ! ?. .......... and the Coffee's So So. Your definately a 'One off' VF :D
