I deadened one of my big toe toe nails a couple of months ago and over the course of time it's gradually been lifting across 80% of width and splitting near the base. I caught it on something today and it's about 75% off but is still rooted on one side and corner. It hurt like hel_l and also bled when I knocked it. I don't think I can just rip it off, neither can it be left as it is.

I have to go to hospital to sort out a possible gastro/intestinal problem, and check my eye pressure too, but would rather avoid the expense of this as well. There again I can tell you I yelped when I caught it.

Can I have an injection to numb it?

Planning on going to Chula or St Louis for everything. Anywhere cheaper?

The nail can easily be removed as an outpatient procedure.

Just a "digital block" may be required where some local anaesthetic is injected at either side of the big toe to block the 2 digital nerves.

Once the local wears off, it will hurt like a SOB! Keep the foot elevated.

Keep a Betadine dressing on the exposed nail bed. Soak well befpre replacing the dressing otherwise you may remove new growing cell layers with the dressing.

Thanks for the postings.

As a lifelong, practising, committed, devout coward, the words pain free come as sweet music.

Anyone know of anything cheap but clean in Bangkok.
