Stanaris
they all get granted - why the freak out? I am a loss to understand the total lack of feeling you have. Most of us on this forum have worked hard to put together the application for our wives and it is very important to us. Do not forget that there are some who get declined and my heart goes out to them, because I care about people. If you cannot be happy for us then I would suggest you should keep quiet

quadisking
The man from Del Monte he say YES!!! Congratulations to you Stanaris, good luck Chris555 any day now mate. Down from about 13 weeks to about 7 or 8, wow unbelievable. I'd like to say a really big thankyou to Tiggerfish and TigerJohn, and a massive thankyou to 7by7 for all your excellent help and advice, it is really appreciated. I guess I'm a bit different to most of the others on this forum in that I'm already in Thailand with my wife and my son. But to the bloke that posted that 'they all get granted why freak out', I would like to say that first of all they don't all get granted, especially if you are an expat returning to the UK. It may be that you don't own your own home, don't have a job in the UK, don't have much money in your bank account etc, any number of reasons which might put your application in jeopardy, so you're wrong. A friend of mine's wife's application got rejected because of a couple of those reasons in the past. I haven't got a job to return to, so I think I had every right to be a bit concerned. Secondly, since 6th Sept when we returned from the UK (tourist visa last time) we continued to rent the house we were staying in in the UK which has cost us a lot of money, and also we have not been able to send our son to school during this time. So that was 'freaking me out' a bit too. Quite honestly, you are talking out of your backside. The only slight downside to me being ecstatic right now is that they appear to have given my wife the wrong stamp in her passport which I was half expecting. To 7by7, it's stamped VISA SPOUSE/CP and is for 27 months, but no mention of ILE subject to KOL. I think you've already answered this question in another topic, but I'm assuming that I should get it changed (to save cash on the yearly price hikes of the KOL test), and that it would be easier to do this when we get back to the UK? chiang mai
I have a question, when is the best time to submit a UK visa request in order to receive the quickest response? Clearly, June 2010 was not the best date but I'm curious, January, February would be my guess.

TiggerFish
That's great news Philbot44, good luck for the right result, sounds like you deserve it having gone through this once already. Stay in the UK this time, three years is good if you can manage it. To everyone else. This thread has been a source of information and support since tigerjohn started it back in July of this year. If you happen to read any comments that you feel do not contribute in a positive way please just ignore them. I think you'll find we all feel the same way, ignoring them is usually the quickest way of making them go away. Good luck to those all still waiting, now I will have to go on another topic to find out which one we have been given but think its jsut start again from beginning and do 27 months until have to pay the next wack of money, unless of course they change the rules again which is also likely during these timescales, whatever happened to restrospective!! TiggerFish
I wonder what the ratio is of approvals:rejections. Any ideas? Most are. In fact, most applications are successful. The figures for 2009/10 have yet to be published, but in 2008/09 in Thailand out of 2,775 settlement applications, 2,385 were granted; thats 87%. See Entry Clearance Statistics 2008/09; Thailand's settlement applications are on page 75. The success rate for family visits (page 37) was 90% and for other visits (page 52) it was 91%. A look in the archives (2001/02 to 2004/05 and 2005/06 onwards) will show similar results. Which indicates, to me at least, that provided one prepares properly, obtaining a UK visa, visit or settlement, is not as difficult as some would have people believe.
