Suhari Posted October 30, 2010 Share Posted October 30, 2010 Well, it took a little longer than I hoped to finalise everything and get the paperwork over to Thailand, but my wife dropped in the application on Wednesday 27 October. 3 hours after dropping in the paperwork we got a a text saying the application had been passed to the Embassy. Heard a story earlier on about a guy who only had to wait 10 days for a successful outcome. Here's hoping. Good luck to those still waiting. I will not be waiting at arrivals though, as soon as we hear, then I will be booking a flight out there and bringing her back with me. Stanaris, we got the same message as you about application is ready for collection, so hopefully sounds good, looks like we have lift off too. Very excited now, was expecting it to be at least another fortnight. Thank you so much for letting me know because this makes me feel so much better. I hate that they give you that vague message about the application being ready to collect. Happened to us with the visitor visa. Horrible trip back to BKK not knowing! Philbot44 Posted November 5, 2010 Share Posted November 5, 2010 looking like the wait is approx 7 weeks at the moment which is quite good looking at the historical waiting times. wish we could go back to the days where they were issued on the same day, its a real nightmare for me having my wife already been granted a settlement visa after which we then moved overseas for 3 yrs due to my work during which time the settlement visa expired so we then replace it with a visit visa (perhaps this is where we went wrong but how can I renew a settlement visa when we were at the time classed as resident in UAE)? Problem was soon after I had to return to the uk which affectively meant I had to go through the whole process again to the extent that I havent seen my wife (who I have lived with for 4 years now) for over 2 months as she can only apply for this type of visa in BKK and after applying has to submit here passport to them. Why is it that its so complicated even thou we have lived together for 4 years, should it matter that we lived in uk for 9 months and UAE for 3 years then 6 months in uk on a visit visa for 6 months only to then find my wife has to fly to BKK and re-submit for new visa and we have to wait what could be 12 weeks. I dont think it will be a problem but it just doesnt seem right that we have to be separated for that lenght of time. ok you could say I should of stayed in the Uk but its clear that the rules can cause problems if your long term plans happen to change irrespective if you move around the world together as man and wife, worth noting for people who work overseas for long durations.
