Briton Jeff Savage Freed By Thai Court

<snip>

Subtle threats of violence a speciality of some red cheerleaders.

<snip>

As opposed to an unsubtle bullet in the brain from Mark's marksmen?

I think you are referring to the Thai Army, who showed remarkable restraint in the face of the organised violence of the red thugs and their blackshirt guards who the red cheerleaders would like to see back on the streets. The red rants of Arisman, now they were subtle. Burn down Bangkok. Thaksin's revenge. And then deny all. That is the red way. Down the line.

Lucky boy Mr. Savage ...3 month sentence cut in half due to the guilty plea ....bingo! already done month and a half behind bars ....free to go but deported (as you do). So he is now a convicted person and guilty by his own admission in a Thai court of law.

But it seems that this would be classed as a 'minor offence' ...thus his ban/blacklist from Thailand is not for life (or so it seems from other posters here and sources elsewhere). The ban figures somewhere from 2 to 5 years but the information on this seems unclear. However, if this is the case, then he can someday come back to Thailand.

Is that a good idea? Probably not for his own safety and welfare ...he upset a lot of Thai people here by his youtube comments and his other actions that have been revealed from Pattaya 2009. I don't think the Thai police would speedily come to his rescue if he encountered some problems with a Thai person in the future.

For the sake of me/expats, you, Thai people, and Thailand ...please stay in England and try to get your family over there. move on Jeff and be happy/sane. :D

So basically everyone seems to think that if your a foreigner in this country your not allowed an opinion ? In every 'western' country you become resident, pay your taxes and have to basic human right to peacefully demonstrate and participate in political debate. In most you can also become a citizen of that country and be eligible to vote.

Savage's actions ARE stupid and idiotic but the comments on here saying foreigners should not have an opinion and should stay out of Thai issues are well off the mark. After all, many of us are long term resident here

Jeff wasn't convicted for having an opinion, he was convicted for breaking state of emergency rules.

Of course you and I and everybody else have the right to have our opinions, but it is a question of what and where and when it is appropriate to voice it. And we of course should only voice opinion where we have mandate. Common sense

Rememer that the demonstrators around where Jeff liked to hang out were not peaceful demonstrators but occupiers and that the demonstrations were not peaceful but illegal acts that will cost Thailand somewhere in the region of 150,000,000,000 bath totally.

Jeff was nowhere near peaceful demonstrations or peaceful political debate :)

In the next coup Thailand will kick all foreigners out, better safe than sorry.

Also the farangs who support the coup and the junta and argue that the violent crackdown was justified.

Now you have lost me. Are you saying that Thailand is likely to change its laws so that all foreigners regardless of if they are convicted of breaking the law or not will be kicked out of the country? :lol:

:jerk:

The laws are already there. The computer crime act for example.

Writing hateful comments on the internet is a crime. Do you want these people stay here and work as a teacher or damage otherwise the peace of the society? No, there is no need for that.

Furthermore they damage the reputation of Thailand. Even if they are pro-junta or pro-govt. Some speak like true fascist, taken an extreme position and come up with arguments the junta or the govt would never used. Cheering and applauding assassinations and killings. Being a nutter will not protect them and why should Thailand allow them to stay? :P

It is also for your own safety. Catching a bullet in a peacekeeping live fire zone can happen without being guilty or breaking the law at all.

I agree. I mean most of those red shirts didnt even have a university education. Probably not even a proper job as they could spend so much time protesting. And if you think they werent organised bear in mind that you dont come across several thousand tires lying around Bangkok by accident. It is hardly as thought bamboo sticks grow on trees. If you think you can properly fire a catapault without years and years of specialist training you are totally naive.

I remember seeing pick-ups full of old tyres heading for the barricades. They were allowed straight through the police lines. That says something about where the police loyalties lie.

They were under orders not to retaliate.

Wrong again. Do you always think in terms of black and white? Because the reality is not like that at all and your simplistic generalisations don't help.

It's not my way.

But this thread is about Mr Savage and his tantrums on the YouTube video and while in leg irons.

I wonder if he realises how this makes him look? Does he have a mental problem? Is it drug induced? Who knows? Who cares? I don't. Bye bye Mr Savage.

"Don't have proper jobs" - well there's a thing - perhaps they should be arrested for not having proper jobs......or maybe we should be asking why they don't have proper jobs?

I think (hope) he was being sarcastic. :)

You know what they say about common sense? It isn't that common. :rolleyes:

Let's see Savage could apply for a job as one of Toxin's man servants and perhaps might get some protection from those that still have a score to settle with him. Lot's of damage done to people's property, people wounded and killed as a result of those that incited riots not to mention the inconvenience caused to everyone and the waste of resources spent on that whole mess. I guess they couldn't prove he set fires or hurt anyone but if he did, he will eventually brag about it and they can charge him then.

Savage ought to shut his mouth, leave Thailand forever and try to become invisible but I doubt if he will unless he is correctly medicated.

Sort of feel sorry for the UDD on this one*. Guess ideally they were hoping to be cheered on by some busty, blonde, Swedish Aung San Suu Kyi freedom-loving activists, but instead get landed with these pair of very stereotypical loony thuggish Pattaya reprobate types. Birds of a feather I guess...

* Not really.

Strangely, a guy lurched into a bar I was in on Sukumvit Soi 7 last night, charged drunkenly right through the bar and then back out again, saying he was too drunk... I am 99 % sure he was Savage. He looked just like him and didn't seem the full satung....

So when do all the people on Thaivisa who made their own threats etc get deported too?

Some people still donot get it. He was guilty of commiting a crime he ignored the Emergency Decree and joined a illigal gathering of num-nuts trying to over throw the government. What he said just put the spot light on him.

So - I would suggest are a lot of the comments on Thaivisa over the last few months.

The government have made it very clear that they will be checking web forums for comments that are deemed by them against the law. So you are right their probably is a few savage's on this forum. But I am sure the mods are on the ball and delete offensive material.

Yes they make commets but do they join a political group trying to over throw the government create situation were over 90 people killed and several hundred injured, and a major section of Bangkok closed down for several weeks. Big difference between venting on a forum and participateing.

Far better to vent ones spleen on a forum and get it off your chest than rampage on the streets , so many posters on thaivisa take all that is wrong with Thai and Thailand , writing proffusly on what should be done , even to the point of writing 'Dictates' to the government with the plans for a 'perfect cure' for all that ails the country .

Many refer to themselves as guests in a country that shows them no true respect in any way , shape or form , you are not allowed to own anything , yeah , yeah , I KNOW there are ways and means that some feel is some sort of claim to something that in fact they can never truly own as in the Wesren world . Even there , much of what is owned and bragged about is not truly a personal possession , it is the property of one bank or another as has been realised by litterally thousands of 'Owners' whom are now homeless .

Should any one treat me as so called guests are treated in Thailand , I would make the front door one way , out , just as I did to Thailand , not welcome , why stay and put up with the agravation at the same time as being deprived of your hard earned cash ? I only wanted to retire in peace , there is no peace in Thailand , it is like navigating a military training area full of walls , hoops and whatever else they can come up with , even if you cannot see it , you are looked down upon as interlopers by many of the population .

I do not understand why so many of you constantly have your knickners in a knot concerning things you can do absolutely nothing about , not now or for anywhere in the forseable future , just sit back and watch the tabloid unfold in front of your eyes , have a laugh or two , you are nobodies in the land of or the eyes of Thailand . The only sure thing the fortune you aquired elsewhere is worthy of , is to spend your days making Thai wealthier , that is your lot in life , not to constantly be concerned with how 'You' can improve Thailand , it is just a place you happen to live but can never own .

There , thanks for letting me vent my spleen .

I find it puzzling that Jeff Savage has been tried and sentenced, not for any action but for talking while the yellow shirts who

occupied and damaged the gov. building and both airports are given until Sept. to surrender to the police.

The police have many hours of them inciting the people to riot and overthrow the gov. so it should be an easy case. Right? :whistling:

I totally agree. Understand that you are a reluctantly tolerated guest that is expected to spend your money and leave in 90 days.
