I've now been reading lots about Suan Lum Night Bazaars closing. Although the posts are between 4-2 years old and I can't find any newer information about the night market.

So, anyone know anything about the future of the bazaar? What's going to happen, shopping mall and hotel or as I hope, continuing shopping at the little shopping stalls?

I'm not sure but I drive past it everyday and there is a large shopping centre type building going up. I don't know if all the stalls are still there but I don't think so.

You should try the SEARCH function. The latest posts are no more than a month old.

Suan Lum Night bazaar will close only nobody know when. The land belongs to the Crown Property Bureau and they leased it to Central Group (yes another Central Mall).<BR>Suan Lum will move to Ratchadaphisek Rd - Ladprao intersection. There is already a large night market there. The owners of Suan Lum will build a large mixed use complex.

Most of the Suan Lum stalls will move to there.

The new site, set to be at the now empty land plot between the MRT Subway Ratchada Station and the Ratchada Criminal Court, will likely open in 2012 under the name Suan Lum Night Bazaar Ratchada.

:) It's still very much in action last Oct when I went there :) However, I find the things there more expensive and of less variety than Chatuchak. My main priority if it is indeed moving, is to know where Joe Louis the Thai Puppet Theatre will be moving to, cos it is now very much the main reason why I will visit Suam Lum again :) Happy shopping :)

Very sad that a greedy landowner is again selling off to a greedy monopolising shopping centre group of companies. Just what the city doesn't need more of, but who are the public to decide what to do with land? Went to Suam Lum a few times last month....it's looking very sad now. A section has been razed and the remaining stalls are very quiet, many closed up, with very few visitors. It's on it's way out.

its still there and still worth a go. I just went 2 weeks ago to pick up gifts and although there aren't as many shops as before, there are still some. It is convenient, and not nearly as crowded or claustrophobic as Chatuchak market. Prices are little bit more expensive, but still worth it.
