Dep PM Inspects Development Projects in South

The deputy prime minister presses authorities in the southern border provinces to speed up their disbursement of the state budgets on the development of the region into a special economic zone after their spending is still below the government's target.

Deputy Prime Minister in charge of national security Suthep Thaugsuban today participated in the meeting of the subcommittee on the push for special economic zone for five southernmost provinces at Pattani's provincial hall.

Suthep said this fiscal year will end in the next two moths, so the project must be accelerated constantly.

The deputy PM then suggested the disbursement of budgets for development in the region is still still slow, resulting in the underspending .

Suthep said his visit today was aimed to get updated about the recent problems facing the project and cautioned unoperational projects must be replaced.

He said he will inspect the restive region every 10 days.

A large number of security personnel were deployed at Pattani's provincial hall and nearby roads to ensure security for Suthep and his entourage.
