If the birthday party event is true it means Red Siam have changed tack and abandoned their previous principle of moving away from Thaksin. Wonder what caused that

That Abba song, '' Money Money Money it's The Rich Mans Tool'' springs to mind

Am I am being cynical ?

'Red Siam' to Hold Birthday Celebration for Thaksin in Ratchaburi

The Ratchaburi Provincial Authority is stepping up security ahead of the former Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra's birthday celebration organized by a red-shirt splinter group.

'Red Siam', a splinter group from the red-shirt movement, plans to hold a birthday celebration for former Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra on July 25th in Ban Pong district of Ratchaburi province.

The Governor of Ratchaburi, Suthep Komolpamon, said that the provincial authority has been informed of the group's plan and is increasing security efforts ahead of the event.

Suthep believes the organizer will not use the opportunity to fuel the ongoing political conflict.

The provincial authority urges 'Red Siam' to respect the law and not to violate others' rights. Uniformed and plain-clothed security forces will be deployed at the event to oversee security.

Chiang Mai Expects No Disturbance on Thaksin's Birthday

The Chiang Mai deputy governor believes there will not be violence during Thaksin Shinawatra's birthday next week while a high-profile fortune teller has predicted no political violence in the near future.

Chiang Mai Deputy Governor Chumporn Saengmanee said the government's decision to continue to enforce the emergency rule in Chiang Mai is an effort to ensure public safety and national security.

Nonetheless, he said the situation in Chiang Mai is stable and security forces are doing their duties as usual.

On celebrations planned by relatives of ousted premier Thaksin Shinawatra and some MPs on his birthday on July 26, Chiang Mai officials have asked for their cooperation not to breach the emergency law still in place.

Thaksin's birthday celebrations will be held in his hometown in San Kampaeng district.

Then, on July 29, the red-shirt group and MPs from northern provinces will hold another birthday event in Lamphun province.
