I have a 'day of anger against Thailand' everytime I get cheated here (daily) or when I hear 'me no money' or when I see government officials in nice suits and posh cars, talking about slums and beggars !

Evolution is taking a step back I fear, with the 'flat noses'

P.S. If you think calling them flat noses is racist, think again, unless you have never been ripped off because you are white (charged 10 times more than Abhisit to enter Zoo,  even if you're a cleaner at McDonalds)

My thoughts exactly, but it goes much further than this, add bad attitude. I remember one disgusting incident, which I will never forget, my mother, who is 84, walking is difficult now, was approaching an ATM machine, as she was about to push the card in the slot a Thai woman pushed her out of the way and inserted her own card, she spoke "this is Thailand for Thai people".  I was there and pulled her card out of the slot and gave it her back, following that there was so much abuse coming out of her mouth, a horrible experience, this was in Big C.

Incidents this extreme don't happen every day of course, but it really is how most Thai people think. Ultra National, and if you are not Thai you are rubbish. Strange that, as I cannot think of any really great achiement by the Thais in their entire history. Please correct me if I am wrong about that.

'Day of Anger'. That's an appropriate expression for this part of the world. Is there anywhere in the world who's recent history is so steeped in war and bloodshed, endemic corruption, political ineptitude and genocide as in South East Asia?  Those first impressions of a gentle smiling and spiritual people betray an insidious and dangerous reality.  Civil war and genocide is unmatched elsewhere in the world save perhaps parts of Africa. Something sinister lurks behind those friendly smiles. One only has to look back to the seventies to witness the unprecedented lunacy of the the Khymer Rouge. How is it that young men nurtured in the ambulatories of Buddhist monasteries could follow the demented psychopath Pol Pot and torture and murder millions, obliterate villages and slit the throats of children in furtherance of a sick and warped political idealism? Something sinister lurks for sure.

While I agree with you, the horrors of Nazi Germany still aren't that long ago. Who could imagine a cultured and such an advanced society such as Germany could decent into that, millions murdered, again in the name of some political idealism.

I am no physcologist, but it seems to me that this behaviour is buried in each of us, the entire human race. I find it very disturbing that a species who are able to take great care of their fellow human beings and their children can descend into such horrors.

However, we do have one big advantage in the West, we have learnt from this mistake, at least I hope so. Every European knows what happened, and sure doesn't want a repeat, ever!  I have asked Thai's if they know who Pol Pot is, everyone I have asked  has no idea, they only seem to know characters in a Thai soaps!

It's all about education, and the correct education.

My view is a good knowledge of history is very important, I didn't realise that fact at school, but from history we can learn how to avoid the same mistakes again. Sadly, we can see throughout the world, that indeed, the same avoidable mistakes are made over and over again and again.

Cambodia Bans Rally Against Thailand

The Cambodian government has banned rallies on the 'Day of Anger', which was to express disapproval of the Thai government, due to concern for public safety.

The Cambodian government held a meeting on the matter on July 11, with a representative from a confederation led by Rong Chhun, the confederation president.

Chhun was not permitted to attend the meeting. Rong Chhun is credited as the initiator of the idea to rally against the Thai government on the 'Day of Anger'.

The rally ban was reported on the Radio France Internationale website on Wednesday.

RFI reported that the Chhun insisted on holding the rally and petitioned for permission from the Cambodian Interior Ministry.

Chhun told RFI that the rally is planned to begin at the Supreme Court and end at the Independent Monument, where garlands will be placed. He said the rally will not affect public safety.

Chhun insisted the rally against Thai government will take place as planned, with or without permission from the Interior Ministry.

The 'Day of Anger' campaign against Thailand has generated controversy in both countries.

The confederation previously demanded the withdrawal of Thai troops from the overlapping area near Preah Vihear Temple at the border between Thailand and Cambodia.

Curiously though, if Thailand wanted to try, I am sure China would come running to support Cambodia. If Thailand instigated it, I somehow doubt America's support would be quite so forthcoming.

Naivety like this, and over confidence about military might got America into the poop once before in this part of the world. Thailand's recent military efforts in the region such as in Laos a couple of decades ago aren't exactly bathed in glory, although a lot of medals were probably spread around.

I am not quite sure how you occupy a country from the air anyway?

The people have suffered terribly in the past and Thailand was no help during those nightmare times of the Khymer Rouge. And what most people have forgotten is that Thailand did nothing to try and capture Pol Pot knowing he was hiding out in the border country after the Khmer Rouge had been ousted. Pol Pot owed his freedom to Thailand. Why doesn't the Thai government give them the little bit of land. I am sure the Buddha would have done so. Or now your country is so rich and successful perhaps you are no longer interested in Buddhism?

Cambodians are very peaceful and wise because they (the ultra nationalists) make their small stuff in Phnom Penh.

The Thais are crazy because they (the ultra nationalists, Yellow Shirts) make their provocation at the border TO CREATE A WAR.

Cambodian police should prevent incident to arise. Thai army obviously helps, sometimes, the Yellow to CREATE A WAR.
