hello friends

I am planning to visit Thailand this year for my vacations. I heard a lot about thailand and its natural beauty. As this is my first time to spend my vacations in thailand, I need your feedback regarding following queries.

1) What is the best time to visit in thailand (September 2010 - December 2010)?and how is the wheather between sept - Dec.

2) How much would one required to have in terms of Thai Bhat to stay atleast 7 days and explore thailand?

3) What about the Hotels charges in bankok (starting from 2-3 satrs and 4-5 stars)

4) Can one rent a room from the local people? if yes then how?

5) What about the tourist guide and their pacakages? either one should avail it or hire local person for the trip?

6) Is there female tourist guide available and what are the charges for 7 days in Thai Bhat?

I am looking forward for the reply.

Regards

1. Depends what you want to do ... Nana and Patpong open all year around, for islands Nov - March

2. As above - you can survive with approx 3,000 THB / Day (no girls included)

3. From 250 hostel at Khaosan through 3,000 for standard room up to 50,000 for Royal Suites

4. Can but not recommended in Bangkok - might wake up with shorts only and nothing left

5. Every local travel agency can organize

6. Tourist guide (i mean the one who take you travel around) approx 1,000 - 2,000 THB / Day - if you want different type of exploring Thailand then the charges are up to the number of guides ... for 7 days you get usually discount :)

I've not found anywhere below 600bht a night round there (Bangkok) .... but in Chiang Mai and Chiang Rai 200bht a night is fairly easy

Staying just a week is not long.

I suggest you try backpackers, many good ones with b/fast inc.

They will only be too helpful in suggesting places to visit, and cheapest.

Lots of fellow travellers for up to date info.

Mid November this year you will be able to enjoy Loy Krathon, top festival on Thai calendar

At that time of the year, Chiang Mai is a good option.

Take o/nite train, sleeper, travel and accommodation in one hit, my way, I visit at least once a year.

Shopping, if interested, is nore reasonable in Chiang Mai... inc gals hehe.

Lots to do up there, my fave for having a rest.

My other regular place is on Phuket, usually Chalong, easy to get to most places, half the price of Patong, which is getting as dear as Bangkok.

I can suggest many accommodation options, and sites to explore for what suits you.

PM me with any questions.

You didn't go to the very small dark Sois with dirty guesthouses ... there you can even stay for 100 - cockroaches included

There are many flophouses, opps...backpacker hostels, on/near Khao San road, and they are on the order of 200THB/night. Don't expect room service, a private bath, or cable TV.

There are higher-end hostels in the Silom/Sathorm area, and they run around 700THB/night.

Kaosan Road - backpackers paradise. When you arrive just take a taxi and walk around - plenty of hotels, no need to book anything in advance. Same for travel agency - there are min 100 in walking discance around Khaosan Road
