Buying Pick Up

Featured Replies

Advice please. I want to buy a pick up, will probably visit car dealers in Bangkok, although I live in Hua Hin. Will the dealer be able to transfer the ownership to Hua Hin or will I have to go through the process myself, if so how difficult is it, I am a home owner with an "O" visa. Alternatively if I find a pick up privately, is the process different.

Thanks

secondhand, I would make sure transfer is completed before paying, IOW register where pickup is already registered. If Prechuap Khrikan plates are later desired, this can be done in Pranburi at less than 1000 baht

No dealer do the transfer of ownership first and get the money later. If transfer of ownership is done, actually the customer owns it. So customer can refuse to pay for it. No dealer do this risk, as most of them have to pay the money to someone who own the vehicle, like finance or some third who parked the car for sale. So for the small sales commission the not go into risk like that.

most will accept being payed when transfer is being applied for/vehicle inspected by LTD/transfer accepted by LTD.

Paying before this stage of purchase can end up in someone else owning the vehicle you have payed for
