Fortuner Brake Upgrade

Featured Replies

I happened upon this by accident, Googling something else. Apparently Toyota is installing new, bigger brakes in Fortuners now.

This makes sense as the brake system in the Fortuner was OK but always felt a bit on the flimsy side. What you want on a 2 ton car is big, beefy disks - and it seems this upgrade provides that.

Old news - the Fortuner got larger front brakes in it's August 2008 minor change, in order to address the serious problems they were having with warped discs previously.

This was around last year:

Thanks but that thread is about a 3rd party kit, different thing.

I see. Do you know if these then get installed in the older models as well? I am not sure they did that on one of the 10k services. I know they replaced the discs at some point but not sure they put in different ones...
