July 22, 201015 yr I happened upon this by accident, Googling something else. Apparently Toyota is installing new, bigger brakes in Fortuners now. http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/technical-stuff/78133-toyota-upgrading-fortuners-brakes-comparison-pics-added.html This makes sense as the brake system in the Fortuner was OK but always felt a bit on the flimsy side. What you want on a 2 ton car is big, beefy disks - and it seems this upgrade provides that.
July 22, 201015 yr Old news - the Fortuner got larger front brakes in it's August 2008 minor change, in order to address the serious problems they were having with warped discs previously.

I see. Do you know if these then get installed in the older models as well? I am not sure they did that on one of the 10k services. I know they replaced the discs at some point but not sure they put in different ones...
