One more aide of Seh Daeng nabbed for terrorism

BANGKOK (NNT) -- The Department of Special Investigation (DSI) has captured an additional terrorism suspect, Corporal Rachot Wongyod, also a close aide of the late Major-General Khattiya Sawasdipol or Seh Daeng.

Corporal Rachot, a soldier at Sri Suriyothai military camp in Pran Buri district of Prachuap Khiri Khan province, was arrested today and was later taken to the DSI Headquarters for further legal proceedings. He was alleged of engaging in terrorist acts in collaboration with another suspect, Mr Surachai Thewarat, who is currently in police custody for terrorism and arms trading at the Bangkok Remand Prison.

Corporal Rachot initially denied his involvement in committing acts of terrorism but admitted to admiring the ideologies of Major-General Khattiya and taking part in the prolonged anti-government demonstration of the United Front of Democracy Against Dictatorship (UDD).

UDD warned to peacefully practice aerobics on Sunday

BANGKOK (NNT) -- Supporters of the anti-government United Front of Democracy Against Dictatorship (UDD) are warned to gather peacefully on Sunday’s aerobics practice.

Following the next call for UDD gathering on Sunday to jointly practice aerobics exercise at the Lumpini Park, Police Lieutenant General, Santan Chayanon, warns UDD supporters to gather peacefully and abide by the law as the police cannot avoid their responsibility to maintain public order.

The police will have to do their job if unlawful activities are found whether the attempt to instigate unrest or traffic blockage. Pol Lt Gen Santan, however, has assigned one unit of police to be deployed at the aerobics venue on Sunday.

2 Nabbed for Pattani School Director Murder

Pattani police have arrested two suspects believed to be involved in the gun attack that killed a school director and wounded two other locals in the province.

Lieutenant Colonel Thatpol Supeesunthorn, 22nd Pattani Special Task Force commander, led a joint military-police force in raiding two houses in Yaring district.

The houses were believed to be the hideout of suspects in the gun attack that killed 55-year-old director of Doosongpayae School, Pichai Suasaeng, and injured two other locals.

Two suspects were caught during the raid and brought for questioning for their alleged involvement in the brutal assault. They were identified as 26-year-old Makoree Hama and 32-year-old Mahama Maeha.

The suspects are also believed to belong to the RKK militant group in the province.

Police also collected clothes and documents from the houses for further examination. Investigators said a great deal of progress has been made in the investigation. More witnesses have come forward to give information on the case.

The police have expressed confidence that arrest warrants will be issued soon.

The Doosongpayae School director was shot and killed in a drive-by shooting on July 21 while driving his car home on Pattani-Narathiwat Road.

Two men on a motorcycle caught up with him and sprayed his car with bullets before fleeing the scene.

Pattani Governor Theerathep Sriyapan today traveled to Pattani Hospital to visit 55-year-old Areeya Ani and 10-year-old Noohaseegin Yooso, who were injured in the attack.

Both remain under close medical observation. The governor also gave financial aid to the injured' families.
