Hi asiacat,

Thanks for your reply.

I did some looking around and was able to find a website for T&T and AUA. I don't think that either is what I'm looking for though. T&T doesn't have any job vacancies listed. They probably make their money giving TEFL curses. AUA seems to be a language center.

I really like to find an agent that can help me find a suitable school. An example of an agent in Bangkok would be: jpteachers.com/jpeVacanties.asp

Thanks again.

Most language schools double as agencies.

Ok..clear :-)

Something totally different: I wanted to edit some posts because of some grammar and spelling. is it correct that I don't have that option?

You can edit them for a limited amount of time, then they cannot be edited by the poster.

You could probably get yourself a better deal if you just pound the pavement yourself rather than rely on a middleman. Pattaya is not that big and should not be as daunting a task such as if you were in BKK.

I'd second that. I've met teachers who work for agents and the school just pays a flat rate with no say or interest in the teacher's remuneration. Some teachers get terrible deals and often the agent does little to help or assist, they simply can't. If a school needs a teacher's degree to apply for the work permit - the agent will just ask the teacher to submit the work permit, if the school severs the contract, the agent will just inform the teacher that the contract has been severed - how's this different from going it alone? It takes longer. The agent can and will do nothing that the teacher can't do on their own, except take a cut of their pay of course! Going with an agent is always a bum deal, they just prey on the ill-informed. Apply independently.

Ausiebebe and kilgore trout;

You both make perfect sense. I'll spent some time looking for the addresses of international schools in PTY.
